Know anything about Pavan guitars sold by Tom Prisloe ?

Tom sells online and has a shop in Trumansburg New York.

Anyone heard of him or live within 100 miles of his shop ?

I own a TP 20, it is everything that is claimed on his website, and more. It really does compare favorably with the 3k guitars that I tried in the stores in my area. It is beautiful, sounds and plays great, and smells good too!  Call Tom Prisloe up and talk to him. If you buy a guitar from him, spend the money and get the case too. JP

Did you buy yours online from Tom ? Is yours cedar or spruce ?
Did you get a chance to play the TP-30 to compare with the TP-20 ?

Since the TP-20 is all solid wood like the TP-30,
I'm wondering if the TP-30 is worth the extra money....

If we get another tax refund, I'm thinking about helping out the economy by buying a guitar - perhaps a Pavan !

  I bought online from Tom, a cedar top TP20. I bought one with a finish blem on the back, the finish is a little too thin. No effect on playability of course.
  Tom told me that the TP30's have a more hands on tuning of the top and braces.
  If you're a beginner to intermediate player, I would go with the TP20. If you're a pro, you would probably spend the 4k anyway, but the truth is I went out and played every guitar in St. Louis under 2 grand, and there was only one Alahambra that was 1700 that sounded as good, but the inner construction was very sloppy. Tom will guide you truthfully in your search, if a Pavan is not for you, he'll tell you. Ask him if he has any blems or specials, or even used. The case is highly recommended, it fits the guitar like a glove, and is very well made.  I own around 15 guitars at any given time, including 3 or 4 acoustics. The Pavan is my favorite guitar for the last year.

You said 4K..... I don't understand.
On Harmony review the new price for a TP-30 seems to be around $1600   ( $1100 or so for used ).

reference is that a pro would spend a lot more than the TP30.... I am pretty sure that the TP20 is a solid TOP only, not a solid body. I can vouch for the TP30, excellent guitar.

The TP 20 IS solid cedar top and solid rosewood back and sides. The TP 10 is solid top only, and the price reflects the difference. TP 30 is solid all the way around, but the braces are shaved and the top is tuned for each individual guitar.  jp

I just sent Tom my PERFECT TP30 to sell for me on consignment. I just cannot play a classical guitar, probably because I started a little late in life. He will charge hundreds less than for a new one and mine was/is perfect as I bought it 3 years ago. Very little playing time but the sound was extraordinary. I couldn't manage the fretboard. Ask Tom for the TP30 Joe sent him. You'll love it!

   I can't answer the PM sent via email so I'll do it here and hope it's picked up. The TP30 is cedar/rosewood. The asking price should be about $1250 plus case. Yes, it sounds super! I started with an expensive guitar because I wanted the best for the money. Tom will have it in his possession on the 6th of this month (slow UPS).

- I ordered the TP30 from Tom last week -
        He said it had one micro dot on the side at 7th.
        I ask him to add dots at 3 5 and 9.
        He expected to have it done and mail it out today.
       
        What are the words to describe a guy waiting for his guitar

I just now received an email from Tom
- saying the guitar (with dots added) has been shipped

He said the fed-ex number was included -
but - like I've done before - he forgot to paste it in after saying 'here it is' 
So I called him and got it.

So, my baby is somewhere on the frozen tundra between New York and Tennessee -

I don't have the ship number memorized like a recent guy on the forum,
but I do check the web site to keep an eye on its progress

My TP-30 arrived safely today here at work

It survived the blizzard of 09 and the frozen tundra between New York and Nashville.
(It was 10 degrees at my house this morning).

I let it ' thaw out ' a couple of hours and then opened the package.

The dealer put new D'add EJ46 high tension strings on it.

Dragon - what kind of strings did you use on it ?  ...your evaluation of them ?

This is a wonderful guitar 
The new nylons are stretching like crazy - can't wait to get home with her and get a tuning that holds -

The neck feels perfect in my hand.
I really like the tuners.
The side dots Tom added are just perfect.

The tone and sustain sound very good to my ear.
...can't wait to hear her open up once I get a stable tuning

Now I need a name for her....and then add her name to my tag list.



By the way, I can highly recommend the dealer - Tom Prisloe.
