I'm looking for a volume control knob I can attach to my belt or guitar strap while I'm playing.  Has anyone seen or know of a company that makes/sells these? I'd rather not go the volume pedal route.

LR Baggs Gigpro is one. There are others.

ANother vote for Gigpro. Nice little package

I use a John Pearse Volume control.  I put a piece of velcro on my strap and it connects and disconnects very easily.

You can buy them online:

There are two versions... a one control (volume) and a two control (volume and tone).

drathbun,

You appear to have a cord plugged into it but the one on the JP website has cords attached at both ends.

Don,

If you look at the drawings of the two versions of the JP volume controls, the one with one knob (the one I have) has a cable and a plug running from the guitar to the volume pot and then a jack where you insert a guitar cable. The two knob version has a cable and a plug on one end and a 14' cable and a jack on the other. So it replaces your guitar cable. I suppose that is to reduce the number of connections and therefore noise. The one pot volume control works fine with no noise that I can discern.

I'd prefer using my own cords on both ends, but for $25 seems like a good deal if it doesn't color my tone... :UND>

I haven't noticed any coloring of tone with the JP volume control. It comes with a fairly cheap plug(s) but you could always cut that off and solder up a new plug with gold connections. Of course, with the one control version, you'd have to live with the existing jack connection.

FYI, I settled on this little jewel, I had the opportunity to use one the other night and it sounded great, or it didn't have a sound at all. (Which is what I was looking for;-)

If you want just a volume control, and not a preamp,  here's what I use.

I think I got mine at First Quality Music

I doubt that it is still available, I didn't find anything on ebay or google. I think they called it the Martin VTC (volume, Tone control)

This is so weird, I've called Pickup of the world and left several messages trying to obtain a return auth. #  this week.  I have not heard one thing back from them?!?!?

It's a really small company.  Maybe they're on vacation or off to a show somewhere...?

Finally got a reply but the guy is wanting to send my another unit, he explained they had trouble with their supplier.  I sent an email back letting them know I had purchased a different controller that I am happy with.  I still have not heard anything back as far as a refund number is concerned...

I sent the unit back to PUTW weeks ago and they still have not refunded my money. I'll have to contact my credit card company and have them reverse the charges.  What a PITA!

Glad to here it. I was beginning to wonder if there were some "issues" with PUTW that might cause future concern.
