southworth is about a mile from my house in bethesda and I go there for fun fairly often.  I have played this guitar on at least 2 or 3 occasions.  It is one of the nicest guitars I have ever played and is always the 1st one that comes to mind when I think I "need" another guitar.  every bit as attractive as it looks and to my ears, it has a great sound.

When I lived upthe road in Rockville, the only music store I remember is Chuck Levins Washington Music on Viers Mill Rd.  in Wheaton

Southworth appears to be almost exclusively a vintage/used guitar/amp and repair shop.  Loads of interesting guitars to look at - some priced in the tens of thousands in glass cases.  they trade in some collectable sort of instruments and amps owned by celebs and luminaries.  Located in "downtown bethesda".  Prices seem fair as near as I can tell, but what they sell generally in a higher price range than I seriously consider (makes it a safe place to kick tires).

Because its so close, I could always try and give you a personal impression of something there.

Like any good dealer in 'used' items, Gil will negotiate a selling price and he can be very favorable when it comes to selling items of less interest to him.  He is much more interested in electric guitars.

E. Shoaf

He has been in the vintage/used guitar business a long time. They had a feature article about him in Vintage Guitar magazine about a year ago.
