I know I'm being pro Larrivee here
But
What are your thoughts about Martin coming out with a satin D 18 and a satin D 28?
I'm wondering if Martin has saw the 40 series for larrivee and got a little jealous?
Don't get me wrong I like Martin's
But I think they're very very expensive
And I think the 40 series is giving a run for the money
Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing. That price reduction on the D-18 puts it in price competition with the 40 series Larrivee's. And I think Martin did the same thing with their 17 series to compete with the Waterloo brand.

Probably necessary in the current market. In just a few years it suddenly became painfully expensive to get a decent guitar so imports are gaining ground.

As to whether it's copying Larrivee, a lot of makers have offered different pricing for lower grade finishes so, that's not new. I think it just says a lot about the market to see Martin doing it with their long time classics. To me, it means that can't just rely on the name anymore. They need to do more to be competitive.
