You should get your tracking stuff any moment. Just got mine.
Axe should be here Friday. Looks like forecast is 84 and partly sunny!
Mike

So...apparently I will be spending my Sunday looking out my window waiting for a Fedex truck...gonna be 22 degrees from 68 degrees today. So Sunday night will be spent looking at a box.

Cheers,

I think you should spend Sunday night with a bottle of Chimay, while looking at the box.
Not only will you ENJOY looking at the box, but you may end up thinking of solutions to many of the world's problems.

Waiting to walk my VI around the block was excruciating! But the wait was over earlier this morning, and with a fresh cup of coffee I made my way up to the music room full of anticipation. Tuned her up as I marveled at the beautiful wood, the exceptional craftsmanship, the intoxicating aroma of the wood. I even tried to count growth rings on the top for a few minutes as I sat there feeling like I'd been blessed with something truly special. I counted 23 years of that tree's life in a single inch in one area just outside the soundhole, and that's to be considered "master grade" by many. And then I played, played until my fingers were sore. Played until my ears, and my heart, told me that this guitar is, truly, something special. Not just because I want so much for it to be so, but because Jean's love for the wood and all of his guitars, because of John and Matt carrying that forward every day and having a crew of amazing employees that must feel that and believe in what they're doing, because all of that shone through magically as my fingers brought forth all the sounds and tones that make a guitar special. I sincerely hope that all of you, either waiting for, or now exploring your new Forum VI guitar feel as blessed as I do at this very moment. There's some real magic in these guitars.

That's is a fabulous review! We could see this pop up on the Larrivee site. It's been a fun journey to a guitar that will inspire us.

Thanks too to Mike for his organizing this!

While I didn't get one of these Forum guitars, I did place an order for a Walnut back and sides with a Moonspruce top! I am thrilled to see your reviews and photos! I am so happy you are getting your guitars!!! I couldn't agree more with Riverbend's comments, Matt and John are doing a wonderful job of carrying the family tradition of craftsmanship and love for wood.

Keep posting! and I will keep waiting for mine to get to me!  :cheers

What a fantastic first impression / review.

I am sitting here looking at a "Shipment Exception - Weather Delay" on the FedEx app. It's was 90 miles south of me last scan at 6:00am. Shipment exception was at 10:01. Maybe the truck went off the road or something.  :crying:  :?

So sorry to hear Mark...that right there is real anguish material! I'll bet it almost makes you want to go searching for that truck! I wish you well as your wait unfolds.

So Matt, were you able to get Larrivee to use those beautiful walnut pieces you'd won on your custom order? No worry's if not, as the wood they own and utilize is always exceptional. And as noted earlier in this long running thread, Matt Larrivee has a great source for walnut.

They are gonna try and Use it! Haven't sent the wood to them yet. They are sitting right next to me in my office as I write this.  I am waiting on them to tell me to send it, I can understand they have been a tad bit busy with other Walnut Moonspruce guitars!

I am so happy to see all the positive words on these guitars! Your review in particular was so well said that one can read your excitement with your new instrument! Loved your top BTW, as a woodworker I especially appreciate the Larrivee heritage of tracking down, absolutely stunning boards. Your top is a stunner!

I've worked with wood for most of my 65 years, including several years building small boats, and now mostly home projects like stairs, tables, mantles and various furniture builds. I'm always in pursuit of special wood  What I've seen in my years as a Larrivee owner in regards to their craftsmanship and wood selection has garnered my utmost respect. They have a special place in history, IMHO, awaiting them.

I knew you were a fellow woodworker when you used the term "Riffling" and you probably also understand the term Chatoyance

I agree 100% a legacy built around amazing woods without getting too Baroque like other modern builders get.  Can't wait to see what they can do with those boards, I know they will do them justice and that makes me happy. A guitar sure beats the small table i was planning on using them for!

Keep us posted, and I sure hope it gets there. I'm continually impressed with mine. Haven't even plugged it in yet to hear the Anthem Dual Source as I'm too mesmerized by the acoustic delight. The combination of 12 fret long scale and the exquisite spruce and walnut are amazing to my old ears.

I probably should have described the beautiful characteristic of my top as silk, or medullary rays. Riffling is a really old school description I picked up from the old Norwegian boatbuilder I apprenticed under a few lifetimes ago. It's presence throughout my top speaks volumes toward the quartersawn quality of the wood. I'm still in awe of the details and the voice.

I am also looking forward to hearing from the others, and I sure do hope everyone is happy with their very own. I've got rehearsal in about an hour and when I played a little bit this morning my fingertips were really sore. I spent a few hours throughout the day getting more acquainted with my FVI, loving and appreciating it more at every turn and note. I play mandolin almost exclusively with the group in today's practice so hopefully I cam muffle my way thru with very tender fingers. Ah, but it hurts so good!
