It is supposed to have a standard (satin) 03 finish. When I saw the gloss in the photos I thought they were just wet. I had thoughts of calling John Jr. and seeing if they would make mine a gloss finish. I have both and really don't have a preference.

As someone explained earlier, when the first finish coats are put on, they look like gloss. Those get sanded, then the satin finish gets added as the last coat.

And - gloss finish would definitely be an upgrade/price increase.

I am quite pleased to here that it is satin. Didn't see it listed... and the pics looked glossy. No glare or smudge worries with satin! I can put away my shades and white gloves.  :nanadance

And - gloss finish would definitely be an upgrade/price increase. We would all need to have agreed to it when specs were finalized, since that kind of individual spec wasn't allowed for on this Forum guitar.

:nice guitar: anyway!

Looks like Gloss top finish adds $300.  If everything was glossed it would move it up to the 05 model prices I believe.  I am happy with the Satin finish as well.

Well, we put our money into tonal upgrades, and not beauteous stuff.
Walnut, moonwood, hybrid bracing, 12 fret.
We took a stock LS-03 and replaced everything except the bridge and the end pin.
And I'm replacing the end pin  :bgrin:
Been a busy day in this forum!

Hi new to the forum, but not new to Larrivee; I have an OM40 MS Walnut and a SD-40 Rosewood. I was chatting with another member over email and hear there might be an LSV unspoken for. If so, I'd like to speak for it! Mike in Lytle, please reach out to me.

Thanks,

Jeff

Curious, if you have an OM-40 moon spruce/walnut already, why do you want a guitar which is nearly identical, except for the 12 fret part?
The OM-40 MS/W is a fairly new guitar, what can you tell us about your impressions of it?
I have played one, just interested in your viewpoint.

I really like my OM40 (first Larrivee), great tonal balance, works well for fingerstyle (my usual style) and strumming. It's a great guitar. If anything I'd wish it had just a wisper more bass response (need to try some different strings?), but that's quibbling.

Recently I got to spend a lot of time with a 12 fret which I just loved the feel of; I found the playing position to be so much more comfortable. That lead to picking up the SD-40 which just speaks to me. So the idea of a 12 fret with a cutaway for upper access when needed sounds like the best of both worlds. And yes, the 14 fretter would probably be sold.

Was listening to an old Paul Stookey album this morning, heard his song "Sebastian", written about the arrival of his new 12 string Irish cittern/guitar. For those who don't know the story...

I think it fits here.
Remember when the music came from wooden boxes strung with silver wires...

Reach out accomplished. Good work on the 10 post thing.
When you said you are from Canada, something about your name (nbs2005) somehow sounded familiar, but I can't put my finger on it.

Exact opposite response here. Not only did I get charged CA tax. I got charged whatever the local tax is down by the Larrivee headquarters that we don't pay where I live.

Have you tried Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze strings?  They sounded super nice on my Larrivee Forum III

BTW some walnut guitars take a while to open up on the bass side; https://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/features/woods/body-woods/walnut

Well, nice that Larrivee does not have to add Cali sales tax but I'm expecting to pay our Provincial sales tax once it gets up here to Ontario.  Would be nice if customs misses that, but I'm not holding my breath.  Obviously something I added in to my cost when joining this build.

Glad they won't have sales tax going out of California. When it comes into Canada, that will be a whole different story........

Jeff

Any other California orders besides Bard?

The waiting list is updated and latest complete contact info has been sent to John.

1. jwdecour (John) - LS RH
2. gtrplayer (Dennis) - LSV RH
3. nbs2005 (Jeff) - LSV RH
4. nak (Craig) - LS RH

At present, the available guitars are still two LSV and one LS.
Current production orders get priority if any are lost in production.
If any production guitars are lost in production, that particular guitar could end up a B stock offered to the waiting list.
