Forum VI (based on Forum III) any interest?

REALLY did not need another guitar, had actually promised my wife several months back that I was done buying any more (I know...so stupid)! BUT I have regretted missing the last few Forum Guitar opportunities and just couldn't pass this up: A body style I don't have, a wood combination I don't have and a specialty limited run...how can I say no?? I couldn't, so I didn't.

Next question: When (if ever) do I tell the Mrs.?

Yeah, I didn't need another one, either. But I find myself occasionally being able to let one or two go; either I'm not playing them, or there's something about them that makes them less than "keeper" guitars (something about the tone or playability, etc.). I recently sold my Martin 12-string because I simply wasn't playing it; it came out about once every 4-6 months to be used in a set for Sunday worship. I've sold 6 guitars since March 2021! I've got a few el-cheapos that just aren't worth selling online (not worth the cost of listing/shipping), so they sit in a corner - someday they'll get moved along, too.

You've got quite a list there, Scott; I'm betting there's a couple on that list that fit my parameters (or could be sold for another reason).

My dear wife supported this 100%, although at one point I volunteered that I'd likely be selling one to make room. I've been playing my wonderful Larrivee F33 mandolin more than any of my guitars lately, but since this whole Forum VI caught my attention my OM-40 has gotten a lot of playing time. What really pushed me to do this was, combined with the really cool specs, I'm creeping up on an age where this gets less likely down the road. It felt like the perfect time to jump onboard.

Selling a couple would be a smart thing to do, but I'm wracked with regret over two others I've let go of in the past, mostly for sentimental reasons...so I've vowed to never let one go again. My wife rolled her eyes when I told her that "Loretta" my 000-40R was the last guitar...she knew I was fooling myself. But it's going to be hard to find a guitar that beats Loretta - such a sweet sounding guitar!

I like the sentiments expressed in the last few posts, they are really well spoken.
But for me, starting at moment #1, it was never about needing another guitar.
It was about the forum doing something cool, like has not been done in well over 10 years.
And it wasn't like we said, well, we are all super poor and we can only afford the most bottom line guitar otherwise we can't afford shoes for our children.
Nah. We said... THIS is the guitar we want, and THEN we asked "how much?"
Yeah sure, we weren't going to get 78 people to jump onboard like in the past, but what we did sure beats the hell out of a Larrivee T-shirt.
Plus, some of us are going to get a super cool guitar at what amounts to a steal.
Just my humble opinion. Happy to be part of the this group, and the Forum pulled another one off.

I posted a heads up about the Forum VI over on the Martin forum (they have an area to discuss all brands, so it's legit). I gave the general specs and price over there. A few folks there share some love for Larrivees, so we'll see if it drums up another customer.

1. There are 10 confirmed orders, a couple have dropped off, but not from anyone who has contributed here. John is happy with 10 orders, tho hoping for a few more, and will probably build 12.
2. Orders will be taken until June 30. A week from now.
3. Numbering of guitars (like... "7 of 10") is pretty much at the mercy of what particular guitar makes it into production first, second, etc. However, John will talk to Matt about it. I don't know how it has been handled in the past, but it looks like it is gonna be random.
4. Jean Larrivee decided there would be no dealer involved in this. We end up getting a 40 percent discount off of the MSRP (which I underestimated by a bit).
5. Related to #4, the dealer is being eliminated because we ourselves have done the work, therefore, we accrue the benefit. We managed a new way of dealing with Larrivee on a Forum guitar.

Kudos to you Mike for the work you've done on this.  As the young folks say...  you da man.  Hmmm, that was what young folks said a while ago wasn't it?

Mike's list covers everything, but I'll add two things that are "standard" on the 03 Series, but some might wonder if they're "standard" on this 03 Series Custom:

Satin finish, body and neck
Larrivee logo on headstock

Many thanks Mike. I'm jealous of the 2-1/4" string spacing for this. I love my Forum II but I do wish it had a tad more room than its 2-3/16" spacing :(
That said, I'm content enough w/ my (3) Larrivee OM's to watch this one from the sidelines.

I bought my Forum II from another forum member here back in 2007 and still play it every day!

I bought my Forum II from another forum member here back in 2007 and still play it every day!

It is great to hear from an owner of an F-II, it helps to solidify the lineage, so to speak.
If we ever get to F-XVI, maybe a fighter pilot will get one.
