Doesn't the Lyric sound good? I think I made a mistake purchasing a M-80.

First notice that there all playing dreads and slope shoulders and next notice that they are all using the venue pre-amps.I tried the lyric and was lets just say I wasn't happy.I do like Baggs pu,my choice's are the anthym sl or the Ibeam both active and passive, both thru the Para direct pre-amp.The M1 and its active brother always sound great in Gibson's and damn good in others.

My son has 2 Larrivees with the Lyric installed.  The OM-05 sounds OK, while the L-05 sounds not so good.  They both sound a little boxy to my ear.  The Imix in my JCL sounds better to me.
Of course your ears may vary .

Cheers guys, I feel much better reading your post. Whew I really thought I made a mistake with the M-80. I don't have any here in Aust, to try before I purchased, that is why I took a punt and bought one. Also it is the reason for my purchasing from the US.
U-Rob I will be installing into a bigger body 0000 size. I can't wait for it's arrival. Cheers guys.

Maybe it's just me, but all the guitars I've heard with the Lyric installed sound like the Lyric.  Guitars with K&K, sound like the guitar.

But, I should warn you, I am very biased toward the K&K. :)

Ha ha ha...........I love K&K, all my guitars are installed with K&K through a Orchid Muting DI,  but I wanted something different this time. Oh I lied, my Martin OMJM and OMC-28e are not. Your right K&K always sounds natural.

I've used K&K in most of my Larrivées and am quite pleased with them but I put a Fishman Matrix Infinity in my Martin D-35. I really like that one especially the hidden sound hole controls.

Oh yes DT, I also have had a Matrix many years ago in my HD-28 before I sold it. It did sound good. Actually I think I still have a used one laying around somewhere.

I go back to the original Barcus berry days.
then I got hooked on the original B-band system.
Then the Element VTC. (still in use in two of my larrivee's

The Dual system from LR Baggs, with the Ribbon transducer , mic and pre-amp, for me, is by far the very best I have used as far as smooth "natural" sound with lots of control (pre-amp) over the mic.

(I might also add the system with the iBeam thing ,I really didn't like .)

I have, at last count 3 or 4 of those systems in guitars, and for me, it's really the best I have heard.

The ribbon transducer was early, with the volume/mix thing on the steel plate.

I have been working with the great tech folks at LR Baggs, and they have sent me the newer thumb wheel controls, as well as a new connecting ribbon for those older systems.

As a result, I have nothing but praise for that company and it's tech support, especially when folks like me insist on their older products.

the element Transducer/mic system is excellent, but the real treat is finding the ribbon transducer.

they do come up on bat of e on occasion.

yes, they can be finicky to install (mic placement, but very much worth the trouble for my money.

again, running 6 or more Acoustic guitars through house sound systems- is job in and of itself.
again, I just want the very best response I can get, and I'm quite happy with my results.

"Senior" member means "old" right?
Like over 50?

Too many guitars to list here.
Too few brain cells to be bothered with...
