Forum V - The RS-4

I gotta say that is one cool guitar.  If I didn't already have 2 RS-4's, I would have gotten one.  There are 10 very lucky guitar players out there.

I have to say that I just absolutely love the neck pickup we came up with. The first time I heard it was from across the shop and I said to myself "WOW that sounds great!" and ran over to final assembly to get a closer look. It might be my favorite pickup to date.

First of all, this is just an absolutely gorgeous and classy looking guitar.  Based on these pictures, it has definitely exceeded my expectations.  Bravo to you and your team.

I really cant wait to get a listen to these pickups.  Even more so with your statement above.  Out of curiosity, what "flavor" of mini did you end up (PAF style, firebird, etc...)?

One last thing, I am kind of curious as to what pickup configurations everyone got here.  I ended up going with the mini in the neck and a full in the bridge.  Chime in if you guys have the time.

I also went for the mini in the neck and full size for the bridge.  I also opted for a bigsby. 

I can't wait to receive mine.

I went with both mini's. I have an RS-4 with humbuckers already and just love that guitar. The pictures of the ForumV are incredible. Can't wait to try out those mini's.

Great ... now I really want to order one of these mini's to try in my Bakersfield's neck position.

I also went with a Mini and Full - although that was merely due to what seemed to be the popular choice at the time of ordering!!  I am new to Electrics but couldn't think of a better one to start with.

Mini & full for me as well.  I'm patiently waiting for my e-mail to come from LA Guitars, so in the meantime I'm really looking forward to the first player reviews!

I was looking at the pics of these on FB last night and I think the Full size/mini combo is going to be really cool. You guys are lucky you get to own such cool guitars

Suprised to see so many mini/full combos, that is awesome!  As far as I can tell, that is not a very usual combination; at least not on any guitars that I have seen.

I agree that these are going to be very special guitars.  I feel lucky to have my first real electric be something of this caliber.

I went with 2 P90s.  Did anyone else get P90's in theirs?  I gave this a lot of thought before choosing and am still second guessing myself especially now reading the last few posts.  I guess I'll soon know if I made a good choice.  It will be cool if I end up owning the only Forum V with P90s in any case.

Matt, any personal comments on how the P90s sound in the guitar?  Honest opinions appreciated.

If the P90's in the Forum 5 are the same ones that were done by Matthew and are in my RS-2 you will love them.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about.  If you love P90's but got the HB's against your own intuition, then you might have had something to worry about.  I think these will be pretty awesome regardless.

Oh My Gosh!!!!   #8 has landed in Anchorage, Alaska and so far all I have done is Drool all over it!!!  What a beautiful piece of work!  Impeccable! 
Unfortunately the sound check will have to wait until early tomorrow morning due to this thing called Work!  :(

I love the finish on these, and the headstock inlay!

I'd like them better with cream pickup bezel's and switch tips, I think. JMHO...and it's an easy switch for those who want to do it.

So I just received my Forum V with 2 mini's. What an incredibly beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I won't post any pics because you can see that on page 9 under Tarpman's post. That's right, I have #1 of 10. I just played it for about 20 minutes and ran through several settings. Both mini's sounded great in all settings. It's a different sound from the full HB's for sure. I'll need more time to write a more in-depth review though. One thing I noticed immediately was that this guitar weighs noticeably less than my RS-4 Goldtop. The iced-tea burst is done very well. I thought about Mikeymac's suggestion of the cream pickup bezels but this guitar looks great with the black covers too. Maybe something I'll think of doing down the road.
