Sorry, just trying to wake up this thread, and this build!   However I do know that 'Matthew and Crew' are busy getting this build perfect for us and I can't wait!!!

I know I'm going to regret not getting in on this Forum guitar when I see 'em, but I really couldn't swing it this time...oh well! The good news is I have three Larrivee electrics right now and they're all awesome!

Thanks for giving us something beautiful to look at!  I, for one, am trying very hard to wait as patiently as possible and just let Matt and crew do their magic.  I figure that there is a lot of experimentation going on to get these mini's how he wants them.  

It has been awfully quiet around here lately, especially considering the incoming FV's and the newly announced Lancasters.

One thing I can say that I do wish for, is that more of the current RS-4 owners would post some videos and sound clips    .  Not that I blame people for not taking the time and trouble, I have just been trying to keep myself occupied on the scant few I am able to find on the internet.  Some good stuff, just not much.

I will post some... I've been spending the last few months recording and going through about 10 different mics and getting the right combination for my cab.  I have a nice sound and a youtube channel so I will make some demo vids of the guitar.  You're right, not enough client advertisement going on... these guitars are really awesome.  I keep telling ppl you have to spend another grand or 2 to get the same quality at some other well-known manufacturers.  The pups are the best I've heard... can't wait for the mini!

That would be awesome Phil.  I would really love to see more of these things in action.  This would serve the purpose of showing me what they are capable of and, honestly, keeping me occupied until I get one myself.

I hope everything is going well here.  I vaguely recall the suggestion of forthcoming pictures.  The 'other' Forum guitar had better not be distracting anyone from this build  . 

You're right, not enough client advertisement going on... these guitars are really awesome.

I hereby promise to do my part in helping promote these guitars.  This could include me posting some videos, but more likely, would include having me sign a contract prohibiting me from posting videos of myself playing this guitar.  I don't want to damage the brand by association.

The Forum VI hasn't officially been ordered yet - there aren't enough orders to start it up yet.

They're now offering another option - no cutaway at a lower price point. I asked someone to PM me what that is, but haven't heard yet. Don't know if I could swing it right now anyway; since I have a Dr. Z Maz18 Jr. head on order...

Yeah I have been following that thread a little bit.  I am trying not to get interested myself.  Alas, I have some serious financial commitments this year so that should temper my gear lust.  However, I REALLY need an amp.  I have heard good things about the Dr. Z's in general.  Should be nice.

Interesting, that seems to have a pretty usable range.  I really don't need too much power.  As of now, I am only a bedroom player.  I hope to do some recording, but I don't think that gigging is a high priority when choosing an amp.

Yeah I noticed that thread.  Those little guys sound (and look) pretty sweet.  I honestly have a lot to learn about amps as I have never seriously done any amp shopping.  I really wish that I had the ability to play a lot of these with RS-4 in hand to see what I could expect out of the various models that have peaked my interest.  I will definitely keep this in mind.

I forget - do you have an amp now?

There are lots of usable, inexpensive amps out there that you can certainly start with, while you do more research. Fender's little Frontman, or a Roland Microcube or one of the larger Cube's, or a Peavey Envoy or Bandit would sound just fine for starting out on. Many of these can be found used, or you can usually find a returned one on Musician's Friend at a discount below their regular discount price.

Local stores get amps traded in all the time; I'm always running across stuff in the local mom 'n' pop shop or the local pawn shops. The thing you have to do at the pawn shop is wave about 1/3 to 1/2 the asking price in cash in their face, and if they won't budge, walk. They are notorious for pricing used stuff higher than MF's new prices! The reality is they gave the person around 5-10% of what they're asking when it was brought in and pawned - so they have plenty of wiggle room; you won't hurt their profit.

If you looking for a sleeper, economical amp, check out the old Crate GX-212 and GX-212+.  They are virtually free and sound very nice.

Well, I do actually have an ok amp right now.  I have a hand-me-down Laney EA120 - which is a combo acoustic/electric solid state.  So I do have an amp to use, and it is sufficient, but I really want to get a nice little tube amp so that I have a nice amp to match my nice incoming guitar.

That gives you LOTS of nice options - new and used. I'm sure you'll get more suggestions here!

Yeah, I have had very little time to play with any amps, but I definitely know that I like the 'fender' cleans, and I keep hearing a lot about the princeton reverb reissue.  At the same time I am starting to dig the Vox (ac 30ish) sound.  I really want a nice clean sound, but also really want a nice girthy distortion.  In the "Amps for an RS-4" thread there were a lot of suggestions given, only a few of which I have been able to demo.  I also have a PODxt which does some amp modeling to get me in the distant vicinity of the sound of many 'classic' style amps.  I have learned a lot from that, but ultimately need to play the real deals when I can.  Also, what sounds good (or bad) on my 200$ LTD Viper (with cheap, hot, humbuckers), may or may not have a similar effect on the RS-4.  I really can't wait to go play a bunch of amps though, seems like a good way to get to know my new guitar.
