This past saturday night "hoe-down" was great. This is a regular "second Saturday of the month" jam and is usually attended by about 5 players. This most recent one was a full house with 15 attendees. 4 fiddles, 3 guitars (2 larrivees), 1 keyboard, a few harmonicas, some flutes and percussion.
Very cool.. :guitar
My Larry was right at home in there. More than able to lead or follow (volume)
What a great experience for me. The others knew I was fairly new and they were great with that. A few fiddle tunes were very catchy and they wanted me to try rhythm for them. It was such a motivating tune that I had to keep reminding myself that I was not leading the song and keep the strums soft. I really felt that song and wanting to hammer the strums.Hammer might be a bit strong, hopefully you know what I mean..hehehe. I liked that feeling but I did resist.
Too bad the August Jam is cx'd due to holidays. Looking forward to sept.

Great stuff. I love house jams. I have just organized a few friends and we do it every 4 or 5 weeks. Trading places each time. What great time. Has evolved into an open mic night appearance this week for two of us. Will be my first one. Should be fun. Got to go practice!

I've been thinking about someting along just these lines but haven't done anything about it -- ya'all have inspired me!  Am going to contact a few colleagues who I know play guitar and float the idea to them.  Any forum members in the Memphis area want to jump in and join the jam?

I love house jams, I grew up with this watching friends and families jammin' on weekends with different instruments and now I carry on these tradition. It's a fantastic time to relax and catch up and play some music in your comfort zone.  :+1:
cheers

The august jam was cancelled due to holidays etc. I have been practicing some new songs and looking forward to the Sep jam. I'm also trying to get a few guys together for a barn party in Oct. I'm thinking of a set of players as hosts and then open it up to others as well, kind of like an open mic. Good times ahead.  :nana_guitar
