I have a D-03 w/ mahogany back, sides, and top ($150 option) built March 8, 2024, and purchased new May 4, 2025. This guitar has maybe 10-15 hours of playing time, been kept in a humidity-controlled environment, and never left the house. Has a remarkable tone and sound. Restrung with Stringjoy Foxwoods PB 11-52 in May 2026. Includes OHSC.

Interested in trading the D-03MT,    valued at $1100, plus cash for a NEW or USED 24 Series 00, 000, OM, or L.

The Larrivée dreadnaught size is just a little too large and painful for my damaged rotator-cuff, right shoulder. I love the guitar, but I cannot enjoy playing it.

Good luck with your sale. I'd be interested in your thoughts/impressions about using the Stringjoy Foxwoods on a mahogany topped guitar. I use Martin Retros on mine and generally use D'Addario phosphor bronze strings on my spruce topped with good results.

As the owner of two all mahogany Larrivee guitars, your D-03 will be a great acquisition for somebody. Given your concerns about your shoulder, I would suggest that you consider a Larrivee 00 body and Sweetwater has a new one listed on their website. I had rotator cuff surgery three years ago and I ordered a 00-24 two years ago which has been great therapy. The only two differences I can see between my guitar and the Sweetwater model is that mine has a mahogany top and vintage tulip tuners and the Sweetwater 00-24 has an Adirondack Spruce top and open gear tuners that I believe are now standard. I also added an archtop case, ebony bridge pins with abalone dots to match the headstock and an Anthem SL pickup to my guitar; all three were well worth it. My guitar also has Moonwood Spruce braces which I believe is also standard.

I have a Larrivee 00-40 moonwood over walnut & 000-40 sitka/mahogany with the fast neck option, and I recently acquired a used standard LV-O3E. I thought an L model might be too large and be trouble for my shoulder. But when I checked the dimensions, I figured an LV would be OK. I got a used one on try-and-buy basis, and it's OK, no pain, so it's keeper. The L model is the size of a GA. It's odd. I have a Godin dread and it's no trouble. The Larrivee dread is a slightly bigger boat. So no more battleships of any brand for me, LOL.

I really like the sound of the D-03 all mahogany. I do like the 40 series better than the 03. To me, the 40 series is lighter which is important to me. I saw that Sweetwater all mahogany, vintage sunburst 000-40. In a way, that's one of my bucket list guitars, but it's also pricey ($3375) but no doubt worth it. My sweet spot is $2000-$2500, so I typically shop used. My collection generally runs 50-50.

I just started experimenting with Stringjoy this year. I started 2025 with only 4 guitars and ended the year with nine. I kept only kept 2 of the original 4. I acquired 7 guitars in 2025 and added 2 more in 2026, which brings the total to 11. That quantity offers me opportunity to try out different string brands, tunings, etc.

- I've only used the Foxwoods on the D-03 MT. I give them 4 stars for that application. It came with D'Addario XT which were "OK," but the Foxwoods improved the sound IMHO. I've had them on the D-03 for more than a year and they are holding up fine. But I only play that guitar maybe for 15-20 minutes once a month at the most.
- The strings I really like are the Ernie Ball Earthwood Bell Bronze. Between the early '90's and the early 2000's I used John Pearse strings, but switched over to Ernie Ball Earthwoods when the Pearse non-wound strings kept showing up rusted in their paper envelopes. The Bell Bronze are a relatively new brand, but I have had them on my 000-40 for over a year and they stay in tune and they're still going strong. And I play that guitar a lot. I put a Baggs Lyric pickup in it and that combo of strings and guitar work very well.   
- I had a '79 Martin D-35 for over 30 years. I bought in '92 from Gruhn's and sold it back to Gruhn's in 2025. Probably for last 10 years I used Martin Monels on it. It seemed like those strings and guitar were made for each other. I have a set of Monels that I will probably try out on my '23 Martin sitka/rosewood or maybe the 2007 LV-03.

I have an LV-03MT 12 string and an LSV-03 (Forum VI) that is Moonwood over Walnut and I have no trouble playing either of them.

Don't sweat it on the pictures, I always have trouble posting pics too.
