Here's to bring back GOTM!

I found it languishing in a mainly electric guitar shop in Texas. I've had it about a month but have been too busy to play it much. It feels and sounds great.

A Larrivee 000 with a cutaway. Very cool! Don't see these very often. Nice score!

Thanks BlueBowman!

I had been thinking about ordering an OOv or OOOv or perhaps a Tommy Emmanuel custom in the future. Maybe in a year or two.  This one showed up out of nowhere.

It would be great if there were a few pictures posted to Pictures sub. Don't be shy. Someone has to be GOTM for July.  Anyone have OM painted up like Buck Owens acoustic?  I remember seeing one or two for sale a couple of years ago.

I have to admit, I loved the look of those red white and blue "buck Owens" Larrivee OM's!  I believe it was just a painted OM-03 with mahogany B/S.

Larrivee Forum VII

That's a nice looking guitar and a great and rare find on your part. I'll bet it sounds and plays even better than it looks. I seem to recall that adding a cutaway to smaller bodied guitars requires an experienced and skilled luthier who knows how to prepare and bend the cutaway side. It's apparently less of a challenge on the D and L body sizes. Over the years, I've looked at and played a lot of different guitars with a cutaway and I currently have three including two Larrivees, an LV-03 12 string, an LSV-03 Forum VI, and a Furch Grand Auditorium. I keep finding new songs on all three of these guitars especially beyond the 12th or 14th fret.

Spend time on the forum and you'll get a variety of opinions and theories about cutaways. I happen to love them. Others say the cutaway detracts from the visual appeal, others say the cutaway impacts the volume and/or tone and some say they don't want or need to play past the 12th or 14th fret anyway. Now, consider the fact that a standard piano with 88 keys has a range of 7.25 octaves and a standard guitar generally has a range of 3.5 to 4 octaves. Open tunings, slides, pull offs, hammer-ons, muting or bending strings and harmonics can add a lot of color to songs.

The Buck Owens guitar sounds pretty cool.
