While I had the strings off, I polished up the faceplate of the headstock, and it really brought out some coloring in the ebony and also makes the JCL initials SHINE! I'll post some pictures later when I have some time.

Awesome. Would love to see it!

Looks gorgeous! I absolutely love the streaks in the ebony. Reminds us that it's not plastic, it's a real, organic work of art. Thx for sharing.

Yeah,it's like a blonde streak in the wood. Looks funky and cool.

That's beautiful! What product did you use to polish?

I just have to say that my Forum VII is sounding stunning these days.  I put on some DR Sunbeams light strings and it just chimes like a wedding church bell.  It's a jaw dropping sound.  I'm happier than a butcher's dog with this guitar.

Maybe I'll give these a shot. I've been at a loss for which strings to try on my Forum VII (000, Redwood/Black Walnut).

I'm not real crazy about the strings it came with, sounded pretty good at first but as time goes by, they just don't sound right (can't really describe what I mean).

What has everyone else tried????

The DR Sunbeams are the only strings I've tried so far after taking off the factory strings (d'darrio EJ16's if I'm not mistaken?). Next set I may try is Martin retro monel strings, because I've had great success with those.

I believe Larrivée uses D'Addario XT's.

I'm a fan of Retro's on certain guitars, tried them on my Forum VI and took them off very shortly after.

I'm thinking of trying the Ernie Ball Bell Bronze on the Forum VII, they sound good on the Forum VI, time will tell I guess.

SP6,

As you enter the monel rabbit hole, if you like the sound check out the Curt Mangans and the Newtones (a bit pricey with the tariff).

 the butcher's dog....🤣

Well, I finally changed the strings on my Forum VII (000, Redwood/Black Walnut) to some 12-54 Martin Retros, I'm liking it.
I was thinking of the Ernie Ball Bell Bronze but, I thought they may be too bright so, I went with the Retros.

I'm a big fan of Stringjoy strings for my guitars and mandolins, and their PB Naturals in 13/56 fit my Forum VII to a T. Currently, my Forum VI is wearing their PB coated Foxwoods, and those are also a favorite. I'm incredibly impressed with the quality and longevity of their strings.

I have yet to hear anyone complain about their the sound and quality of their Forum VII. FWIW, Martin is offering a 20% off sale on strings including Retros which runs until Monday. I've been using Retros on my 00-24 which has a Mahogany top, back and sides. For whatever reason, this small bodied guitar responds well to these strings. I used a set on my Forum VI but switched back to D'Addario PB (EJ16) light gauge because I had a three pack on hand that I paid $14.99 for last year at GC and I needed to rotate some stock.

Between gas prices and tariffs, this will be a good summer to sit on the back porch and play guitar and I can get a set of strings for less than the cost of two gallons of gas. My son loves to change strings and he gets them wound on the tuning pegs just right. As a result, I generally oblige him and let him do my strings changes and give him a couple of sets and a guitar to play for a while.
