So I think we are in great company here. Our guitars will look just as good and cost less than 1/3 the Huss.

Huss also has a redwood/claro walnut OM going to another dealer. Not as good looking.

Ever since meeting you at Guitar Tex's shop I've followed them and saw this guitar the other day. Couldn't agree more...we're in a great place with our orders, their quality and their price. If I hadn't ordered a Forum VII, that Moonwood/Koa Larrivee they put in my hands was probably going to come live here. That's one of the very nicest music stores I've had the pleasure to visit.

Remind me again, what was the body shape of that koa moonwood that you tried?

It was an 000-40, and it was spectacular! Same body as my Forum VII, but with the hybrid bracing. Here's a link to the sold Reverb ad;

It didn't feel like you were holding a guitar, it was just so light and fit in my lap and under my arm. Super anxious to get our Forum VII's...I'm anticipating the same feeling.

I got to play myopic Squirrel's 000-40 last year, and I immediately fell in love with the shape and comfort of the 12 feet 000. The sound was spectacular, also. That is one of the many reasons I  am so excited to get my forum VII.

Hi Folks,
I came across a few photos I didn't get to posting. I'll track down Mike's OG build and the third Walnut when I get back to the factory later in January. - jr.

Woohoo!!! Thanks Junior! That walnut looks lovely.

Those guitars look great. For those who are waiting, remember to keep in mind that Jr. is covering a lot of ground traveling between Vancouver and Oxnard.  Someone can correct me but for most of my playing years, rosewood, mahogany and maple and to a lesser degree koa, were the preferred wood choices by builders for back and side. Sitka, Adirondack and Mahogany were the preferred top woods. I never actually played a guitar with a Moonwood Spruce top and Walnut Back and sides until I picked up my Forum VI for the first time. I can't wait to read about the reaction from the Forum VII gang once they get their guitars.

Yes. In fact, there's some good interviews with Richard Hoover where he talks about getting his start in the 70's and how there was not much of a market for anything but a dread with a spruce top and either rosewood or mahogany backs. He found koa to be excellent but had trouble selling koa backed guitars. And, OMs were thought of as a "girl's guitar" and people warned him no one would buy them. He describes his struggles to try to get the player base to accept other types of woods and body sizes. I admire guys like he and Jean who built designs they believed in and kept offering them.

 Now, buyers are not only open to different top woods but they want specific varieties of spruce. It's pretty amazing how far it's come in recent years. I remember walking into GC stores not that long ago and the acoustics were all spruce over mahogany/rosewood dreads with the occasional Gibson jumbo.

You walnut VII folks are in for a treat. The biggest reason I didn't order mine with walnut is because my VI is walnut, though I may have still opted for it if they hadn't offered an upgraded mahogany grade to 05-09. Big walnut fan here.

This is exactly like the one I played at Guitar Tex's in San Antonio last March. I was so struck by this guitar that I was going to buy it after we got home. They also had it listed on Reverb, and when the Forum VII conversation turned to flamed sinker redwood, the uniqueness of our opportunity swayed me. But the 000 body was an easy choice.

I'm always a day late (or in this case, about 1.5 years 😅), but having two kids in 21 months will do that. I'd been waiting for the Forum VII, then took a break from guitar while juggling the kids. Just got back into it last week and realized I completely missed the VII order window.

Any chance someone dropped out or is willing to sell their allocation?

Hey Jankymutt, sorry you missed out on the build.  There are currently only 7 guitars that were ordered, and I'm not aware of anyone dropping out, so far.

I feel your pain- I joined this forum right after they closed taking orders for the Forum VI, which got glowing reviews.
