On AGF I always come across a post where someone says they are going to do the above. Considering my age, I thought maybe I should do so as well. I thought only one mahogany and one rosewood instrument and simplify my life. So, I listed two of my Larrivee's for sale. So far, my SD-40R has 128 views and 17 saves and my D-03R has 52 views and 4 saves in 5 days. I usually don't play an instrument after I list it, but I made an exception today. I've decided these instruments are too good to sell. And if I had that money, I'd probably buy something else. I'm just glad everything is working in the finger and shoulder departments. Sale OFF!

Some of my current favorites are ones that I planned to sell at some point. Looking back, I just needed to develop a bit and understand their strengths to fully appreciate them. Everyone has their own reasons though.

It seems like most people end up regretting selling guitars.  I know I have.  I still miss my old Partscaster I so lovingly and painstakingly built once upon a time. I'd still never really play it, but it would be cool to have it around.

But this thread reminds me of a certain friend I have that never seems to regret selling his guitars. When he's done with them, he's done and doesn't look back.  I bet this guy has had around 100 guitars come and go in the 30 years or so that I've known him.

Interesting! I've never heard of sellers remorse being nipped in the bud, so congrats on dodging that bullet.

But I must confess that I have an OO or two that I honestly wouldn't miss because what small difference in tone they have compared to the others isn't all that meaningful to me. They all sound great, so degress of "great" isn't worth the extra storage spots on my guitar rack.

But on the other hand, I've had a Taylor 322 that for years was bumping along the bottom of the list, but I've found a new appreciation for. Then today, I fantasized about splurging for that one last - "this is the one" - an all gloss OOV custom with 24" scale, some various bling and a moonspruce top with mahogany. If that happens, 2 of my OO harum would have to go, so watch this space . . .

I have to admit, of the dozens of guitars I've sold, I only regretted selling one. It was my first guitar and, thankfully, I was able to get it back. I do miss a lot of my old guitars but, I'm glad I sold them so I could discover new instruments and sounds.

Having had to sell some of herd a log time ago to pay bills.I miss every one of them and there were alot.

To the extent that I know what I know about guitars I mostly learned from having had so many pass through my hands here. I couldn't possibly have kept them all. I have neither the space nor the financial wherewithal to have kept each of them.
The one I miss is a 000-50 Traditional Series mahogany top, back and sides, FSB burst. If I still had it I would be playing it right now instead of posting this here.

Since returning to the guitar about 7 years ago and going through 15 instruments including what I have now, I'd say the only two I miss were the two Waterloo instruments. (WL-12. and the Jumbo king) Not so much that I miss the instrument, but they are hard to come by lefty and mine were new, but for the resale value. I sold mine for exactly what I paid for it, and it was a quick sale to the same person. When I look at the current asking prices, I wish I'd kept them LOL.

I miss my Waterloo WLS-DLX because it was unique. Not the greatest sound, but I've never had anything like that. But, I sold it a year ago for more than 2.5x what I paid for it in 2019. For those who don't know, they stopped making them for a while so people started paying stupid prices. I'm really glad I sold it, even though I miss it all the time.
