I hear you - it would be cool to have another different wood but I like punchy and want more bass and I think redwood is neither of those (but has it's own sound, which is cool). I'll check that video out, thanks. I assume you've tried (a stiff variant of) engelmann or port Oxford Cedar (not a real cedar!) ? Paired with rosewood, I reckon you'd love those tops, going by your style

My first steel string guitar was an Eastman that had Engelman spruce. I like the looks of it but never could get attached to Eastman's in spite of owning 5 of them. I did like the one with the Adi top. For me, an Adi or mahogany top would be my choices. I wonder if Larrivee would consider using Adi on something besides the 24 series.

Ditto re Eastman.

Adi was one of the original top choices for this build. It's a cannon (though I must admit I think Sitka is a touch less clinical and nicer sounding with a light touch). Sitka really is amazing.

Surprised at the mahogany top ! :)

Not trying to correct anyone, but there's a lot of guitar-buying algebra in this thread. Michael Watts plays modified dreads that are luthier built to be insanely sensitive, and his style is unique. There's a lot of guitars he says don't work for him (incl pre-war Martins) but I personally think that's irrelevant to us as individuals unless we happen to play in DADGAD exactly the way he does. I often play similar music in alternate tunings and even I don't have the same needs or preferences he does. The Forum VII is a 00 or 000 so the headroom thing doesn't translate. The Larrivee sound does not represent the types of guitars Michael plays either. If one needs a guitar that is suitable for Michael Watts, they need to spend around $25,000 with Jason Kostal and wait a couple years. The Forum VII is an incredibly well-priced run with a rare and unique wood. Those who have room in their collection for a guitar like that know how they are. It's not for everyone and there's no shame or negativity in thinking it just doesn't sound right for you. It's all good.  :thumbsup
