I have read in the past that some guitar stands have materials that ruin a nitrocellulose finish. Is this true? Are there recommended stands that don't affect a guitar's finish? Anyone have a stand recommendation?

There are all sorts of foams used for cushions on stands, any of which *could* be reactive.  I think the worst were the older ones that used the yellow surgical tubing.  I haven't had a stand that did any damage for at least 20 years.

Thank you for the information.

Yeah, I don't see many of the tan surgical tubing stands much anymore, they seemed like they would stain nitro.  I've seen people use things like cotton socks or cloth for protection.  In my mind, nothing beats putting my guitars to bed in their cases, but I'm paranoid of humidity...

Ive had some finishes damaged in as little as 48 hours from them.
Now I cover them with a rag.

Not simply stain it, it has a chemical reaction with the finish and it will eat away at it.
