Interesting comparison    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OG4nBhwJhQ

I'm not sure what I think on differences.

I personally think the differences have to be felt because they change the way you play and clips don't really pick that up, IMO.

I mostly prefer 12 fretters myself as it's just far easier to get the kind of tone I like, and they're more comfortable on the left arm as well. But, I'm not limited to them as there's plenty of amazing 14 fret instruments as well. I like 14 fret guitars for strumming.

Thanks Herman, that was some fine playing. I'll hold my thoughts till others weigh in.

Yeah, that guy plays quite nicely, when I watched this video seeing it in The Larrivée e-mail, I couldn't tell which I liked better.

Same here.  Both sounded great in that players hands, but different.

Agree that both sounded great and it would be a hard decision to select one or the other if I were buying.  But, I like 12 fret for the feel of playing the guitar and tend to go in that direction with recent buys.  I did think the 12 fret in the play test 'rang' a bit better, longer, fuller.  I do think that the position of the bridge helps with that.

JCL himself has said 12-fret guitars offer better sound than 14-fret.

I have the all hog Forum-II and an OM-05MT which is pretty close to an apples to apples comparison. I agree with B0WIE - I find the 12-fret more comfortable to play and prefer the tone as well.

JLC said it had to do with the placement of the bridge on the soundboard.

I loved the overtones on the 12 fret, but liked the clarity of the 14 - feel like the 12 would be better for solo work, but the 14 would fit better in a mix.  Great, now I need one of each  :bgrin:

I believe everyone at the Larrivee factory would wholeheartedly agree.    :roll
