We have eagles in the trees on the mountain behind us. My wife worries one will carry off a Chihuahua. Um .... I don't.  :roll

One of my biggest fear DT. I never use to worry about it till I saw youtubes of Eagles killing and taking animals twice the size of my Poms. Never saw it myself but I do believe your wife has concerns.
By the way, with a name like "Duck Trapper" I'm sure your alright. LOL

I'm just kidding. I love the little tykes. I just think eagles would have to be starving before they'd try to take a dog. They go out in a pen in the yard and don't stay out very long because they're barking little buggers who believe they're lives should be spent inside on couches!

Ducktrapper comes from a Dylan song, by the way.  :cheers

This guy wandered up to me one night twenty years ago, when I got out of the car. He was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. When I tried to catch him, he scampered away. It took a month but a neighbour trapped him in a garage.  He came to live with me for nearly 19 years.

He loved the guitars and would sometimes play them when he thought I wasn't around.

In his last days, he spent most of the time sleeping beside the guitar cases.

Looks like quite the guy and a good story. I had an orange tabby that played mandolin when no one was looking.

Great story ST. I had a cat once, he would go for walks with me every night, just like my pups, amazing.

Ahhhh so that is where you got the name. I always been meaning to ask since I join this Forum. Actually I saw your pup and thought, "Oh yeah, that is definitely a duck hunting dog". LOL

Actually, he's a field dog. Pheasants and grouse and such. He does love the water and swimming but, as for duck hunting, I don't like being wet and cold although I do have the firepower.  :beer

Floater (Too Much to Ask)

Down over the window
Comes the dazzling sunlit rays
Through the back alleys, through the blinds
Another one of them endless days
Honeybees are buzzin'
Leaves begin to stir
I'm in love with my second cousin
I tell myself I could be happy forever with her
I keep listenin' for footsteps
But I ain't ever hearing any
From the boat I fish for bullheads
I catch a lot, sometimes too many
A summer breeze is blowing
A squall is settin' in
Sometimes it's just plain stupid
To get into any kind of wind
Well, the old men 'round here, sometimes they get on
Bad terms with the younger men
Old, young, age don't carry weight
It doesn't matter in the end
One of the boss' hangers-on
Sometimes omes to call at times you least expect
Try to bully ya, strong arm ya, inspire you with fear
It has the opposite effect
There's a new grove of trees on the outskirts of town
The old one is long gone
Timber two-foot six across
Burns with the bark still on
They say times are hard, if you don't believe it
You can just follow your nose
It don't bother me, times are hard everywhere
Well, we'll just have to see how it goes
My old man, he's like some feudal lord
Got more lives than a cat
I never seen him quarrel with my mother even once
Things come alive or they fall flat
You can smell the pine wood burnin'
You can hear the school bell ring
Gotta get up near the teacher if you can
If you want to learn anything
Romeo, he said to Juliet, "You got a poor complexion
It doesn't give your appearance a very youthful touch"
Juliet said back to Romeo, "Why don't you just shove off
If it bothers you so much"
They all got out of here any way they could
The cold rain can give you the shivers
They went down the Ohio, the Cumberland, the Tennessee
All the rest of them rebel rivers
If you ever try to interfere with me or cross my path again
You do so at the peril of your own life
I'm not quite as cool or forgiving as I sound
I've seen enough heartaches and strife
My grandfather was a duck trapper
He could do it with just dragnets and ropes
My grandmother could sew new dresses out of old cloth
I don't know if they had any dreams or hopes
I had 'em once though, I suppose
To go along with all the ring dancin' Christmas carols on all the Christmas Eves
I left all my dreams and hopes
Buried under tobacco leaves
Not always easy kicking someone out
Gotta wait a while, it can be an unpleasant task
Sometimes somebody wants you to give something up
And tears or not, it's too much to ask
- Bob Dylan

Yes he sure can write, amazing lyrics. I love his music and play a few myself. One of my favourite.........Like a Rolling Stone.

ST this is such a sad story........I'm sorry to hear. And people say animals don't have feelings. This so heart breaking for you and the Grey cat. Thanks so much for sharing.

This is a very touching story ST, I'm really sorry to hear this. Yes I can imagine how much it must have effected you, not good.
In time ST, I'm sure you will look back like today and share your stories/memories of the good times you had with them and the friendship you had. I'm sure they are at a very good place right now, wishing you and your partner well.
Cheers for sharing this with us.

Thanks for your kind thoughts.

I miss them, every one. I decided after the last one moved on, I had said enough goodbyes.

It's all okay at this end.

Amazing isn't it? They are just like us, some like music others don't but which ever way you look at it, what funny characters they are, each have their own personality. I think you should get another.

I am a breeder, I loose a few pups myself and I know the pain your experiencing, I say it all the time.....no more. But you know what? I can't do without them. They are my joy, I always look forward seeing them from sun up to sun down. And the best thing, they never complain nor talk back.

First photo. On the left, my lil' buddy Jake. On the right, Louie, who now lives at my wife's friend's house. They share several Chihuahuas. Louie peed everywhere. I put my foot down on that one.
Secondly, Souris (Soo ree) and our little special needs girl, Minette, or Stinkerbelle as I like to call her. I can't believe we are actually down to four resident dogs.

Awwww bless their little soul DT. They are beautiful. Hey DT buy some dog nappies for Louie, that's what we use for all our dogs. the girls also have theirs. My partner sews them, they really work.
Some of these long hair Chihuahuas look like Pomeranians. So cute.

My wife makes things like that too but Louie was a talented escape artist who could remove anything you put on him, apparently. Anyway, I don't want a dog that won't be housebroken. He's better off where he is. My wife and her friend share four Chihuahuas (two long females, two smooth males) and they all live at her house! I don't know what's going on, I don't care. It's their business. I just know where I draw lines. Actually, the only one of them that I really liked, her friend scooped and insisted live at her house. OK, in that case take them all! Fleur is a little darling but I couldn't have her. This is a beautiful little dog.

Ha ha ha, oh you crack me up DT. Yes some animals are good escape artist, but there is always a way to fix that LOL

Oh what a cutie she is DT.

Well, she's from Montreal and some of the most beautiful females in the world live there. I flew there to pick her up, immediately fell in love with her, she lived with us for several months and my wife's friend wouldn't let her return from a sleep over.   :crying:

Ha ha ha.........Did you know that, not just Montreal has the best looking females, but best looking males too? The whole of Canada has the best looking. LOL My Poms Grand parents are from Canada and they are Grand Champions in Canada, US, Thailand etc etc. My pups have one of the best bloodlines in the world. To purchase one from the top breeders in Canada and bring one over here, I hate to think how much. Each of mine is worth 4K AUD to purchase, that is cheap and that is what I sell my pups for.

..........I think we are in the wrong business, Larrivee guitars are cheaper than the dogs. LOL

And the greatest hockey team every! I shudder to think how much my wife and I have spent on little doggies and vet bills.
