I've been spending time on the Acoustic Guitar Enthusiast Forum, I think that's what it's called.  There ain't no negative personal jabs allowed at all.
It does make for a very user friendly forum.
Zohn does most of the moderating. He is always in good humour it seems. And many others are sure to make folks feel welcomed.

   Just food for thought.

As someone who is often the target of personal jabs, all I can say is that  ... I didn't realize you were Canadian.   :guitar

I don't know what the hell you mean.

I, too, check in here occasionally now, mostly to see what's up with NAMM and to see who has passed on recently. I was a relatively new, but certainly old, member to the Larrivee family. I quit contributing after I was dressed down for a post that I had "baited" another member to respond in a fit of obscenity. Interesting that the member had responded to other posts in much the same way, but I never saw any discipline to him or changes in his behavior. I don't remember which moderator did the dressing down, but it convinced me that my forum participation would be better served elsewhere.

Well Moderating is far from a science and us Moderator's too make errors in judgement. But we are always willing to learn and grow from past decisions. The actions of the Moderator in the case that has upset you, may not have been shared with you. But since you saw little change in the Offenders behaviour you suggest favouritism on the part of the Moderator(s) is a tad offensive to me but maybe with age my skin is starting to thin.

Since you cast it; what thread are you speaking of? From which, maybe we can improve our way of doing things and your suggestion of what the Moderator should have done would be welcomed.

To me, it's like the call in the game last weekend. Get over it. Move on. No one was hurt. No one died. (Some) People take things way too seriously. Hell, I get **** for suggesting people use six new  strings.

I apologize, your wit is beyond my grasp. Even now I still don't see the humor. But thanks for the reply.

Edit: just got it

That's because I'm a nit wit.  No apology necessary.   :arrow

As a nonparticipating member, I have to agree with Danny. I don't find you amusing, but you are welcome to the Forum.

Am I the only one genuinely curious about the username "ducktrapper"?  Pray tell.

How kind of you to share that. If I'm the reason you're not participating, however, there's an "ignore" feature. Why not just use it? Like I just did.

At the risk of not being amusing would you believer that I trap ducks.  :cheers

Floater - Bob Dylan

Down over the window
Comes the dazzling sunlit rays
Through the back alleys, through the blinds
Another one of them endless days
Honeybees are buzzin'
Leaves begin to stir
I'm in love with my second cousin
I tell myself I could be happy forever with her
I keep listenin' for footsteps
But I ain't ever hearing any
From the boat I fish for bullheads
I catch a lot, sometimes too many
A summer breeze is blowing
A squall is settin' in
Sometimes it's just plain stupid
To get into any kind of wind
Well, the old men 'round here, sometimes they get on
Bad terms with the younger men
Old, young, age don't carry weight
It doesn't matter in the end
One of the boss' hangers-on
Sometimes omes to call at times you least expect
Try to bully ya, strong arm ya, inspire you with fear
It has the opposite effect
There's a new grove of trees on the outskirts of town
The old one is long gone
Timber two-foot six across
Burns with the bark still on
They say times are hard, if you don't believe it
You can just follow your nose
It don't bother me, times are hard everywhere
Well, we'll just have to see how it goes
My old man, he's like some feudal lord
Got more lives than a cat
I never seen him quarrel with my mother even once
Things come alive or they fall flat
You can smell the pine wood burnin'
You can hear the school bell ring
Gotta get up near the teacher if you can
If you want to learn anything
Romeo, he said to Juliet, "You got a poor complexion
It doesn't give your appearance a very youthful touch"
Juliet said back to Romeo, "Why don't you just shove off
If it bothers you so much"
They all got out of here any way they could
The cold rain can give you the shivers
They went down the Ohio, the Cumberland, the Tennessee
All the rest of them rebel rivers
If you ever try to interfere with me or cross my path again
You do so at the peril of your own life
I'm not quite as cool or forgiving as I sound
I've seen enough heartaches and strife
My grandfather was a duck trapper
He could do it with just dragnets and ropes
My grandmother could sew new dresses out of old cloth
I don't know if they had any dreams or hopes

I had 'em once though, I suppose
To go along with all the ring dancin' Christmas carols on all the Christmas Eves
I left all my dreams and hopes
Buried under tobacco leaves
Not always easy kicking someone out
Gotta wait a while, it can be an unpleasant task
Sometimes somebody wants you to give something up
And tears or not, it's too much to ask

I've always liked ducktrapper. We just call him duck anyway.

Wee bit.   :laughin:

And, of course, a canard is a duck in French which leads us to this. I think Dylan was on to something.

De nada. However, you may want to look into the greatest songwriter and one of the greatest musicians of all time.   :cheers

You mean Ian Tyson?  Ha!  I guess I've always seen Dylan as a 60s political figure and it kept me from being interested.  And speaking of Tyson, they hung out early on.  Tyson has gone on record of criticizing Dylan for singing about working people but never doing a day's work in his life.  Some of it sounded like sour grapes but I got the point.   I did like The Traveling Wilburys a lot, though it didn't really showcase Dylan much.

What can I say? I can't agree with any of that. Dylan is not a 60's political figure. He's a musician, singer and songwriter. In his own words, "a song and dance man". Tyson is great but like most musicians who followed Dylan, they owe him more than they can repay. Like Warren Zevon said on Letterman, "He invented my job." As for the Wilburys? Didn't showcase Dylan much? The rest of the band were all huge Dylan fans and, to me, deferred to him. On Volume One, who would have thought that he'd sing more than Roy Orbison? Anyway, he doesn't need me to defend him. George Harrison said, In 500 years Dylan will be the only one remembered or something to that effect. I think he was being a little modest.

As for the Zevon Dylan quote, around the 26 minute mark.
