Wow, I didn't realize he thought so highly of this wood!  Hmmm.
Chris

I love to see more pictures..especially the fretboard inlays and bridge inlays that matches the torch headstock inlays

I have one ordered...I was rapping with JCL yesterday, and he told me that this could well be my best sounding Larrivee.  He is very high on this as a tone wood.  Also, his stash is highly figured.  It's an amazing looking wood.  When you turn it in the light, you get amazing reddish-brown figuring.
:gotpics:  We need some pics of the wood pile.

wooo... I was watching vids of Jean cutting up some wood for this guitar from Facebook. Very exciting!

I couldn't find that, but the do have a picture of the torch headstock inlay under photos....nice stuff.

Go to Youtube and search for Larrivee 45 anniversary. Matthew L has posted a number of clips (as well as some on the Bakersfield model).

Couple summers ago JCL was in Memphis and I had a chance to talk to him (and show him my L03 Silver Oak). He spoke very highly of the wood and mentioned he had quite a bit of it . . . and some big plans. I've been waiting ever since to see how those plans would surface--now I know. My experience with Silverwood (Silver Oak) has been fantastic. Glad to see it being used for such a special project.
". . . if I only had a brain . . ."

About 3 years ago when several of us were in Vancouver to receive our Forum III guitars  I saw the first of the L-03 Silver Oak bodies on a rack.  They were just a box at that point and were far from being finished but I was struck by how beautiful the wood was.   I'm glad to hear that they sound as good as they look.

Sadly my guitar budget is tapped out but those look like great guitars.  There will at least be 45 happy people.  :thumb

I just got done playing my silver-oak/silky-oak/silverwood/grevillea robusta D-03SO and decided to drop in look around.  I've been following the build of the 45th Anniversary Models on YouTube and I would love to buy one . . . but it's just not in the budget.  It was cool that JCL and family started making grevillea robusta models in the 03 series so that mere mortals could afford one.

I got mine from a small shop in Mississippi called Small Town Music, run by Frazier Riddell and family.  The last time I checked their website, he had a couple of the silverwood 03s still in stock . . . if you might want a more affordable version.
Former owner of three wonderful Larrivee guitars.
Making rudimentary guitar noises since 1977.

Anybody else getting excited :? I know I am
