Hello!

I am a new member, and a beginning acoustic guitar student. I have inherited a Larrivee OM-10, which is now my new acoustic to learn on. It has a wider neck than my old $100 beater dreadnought, and sounds quite a bit different. It is a little harder for my inexperienced fingers to press down on. The tone of this guitar is gorgeous -a sound not unlike a piano in its complexity. Can anyone recommend a good guitar service shop/Luthier for set-up needs and such in the PA, NJ, NY, CT, MD part of the country? It is such a beautiful guitar, that it would be nice to have a good and reliable resource for the long term.

Lastly, as I am new to this brand of guitars, and to this OM body style -any thoughts or insights people are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to come across foolishly, but quite frankly I don't know enough about guitars in general and am not as familiar with things. I would love to learn why the members here like the Larrivee brand and/or why they might prefer it to other well known brands out there. Thanks, and all the best to you guys. (not sure if this is the correct place to post this -so I'll post it in the general section as well).

Don't know if you are anywhere near Rochester NY, but Stutzman's Guitar Center (<http://www.stutzmansguitarcenter.com/>) and Lehmann Instruments (http://lehmannstrings.com/are phenomenal places!

If you are in the Philadelphia area, I can recommend a great setup guy who has done my OMV-03 setups and minor mods (pickup, new bridge, stuff like that) for several years.  Lots of players from the Tri State area use him.  I am lucky that he is only 10 minutes from me but I know guys drive hours to use him  PM me if you want his info.

Larrivee makes a great guitar and an OM-10 is beautiful guitar. You're lucky to inherit a great guitar like an OM10. Just play it. You'll get used to the neck.

OMs are not as big a a dread but can be strummed with a pick or fingerpicked. Its a great choice for a guitar for many styles. You've come to the right place to learn about Larrivee's and their OM body guitars. Just browse old threads in this forum for a while and you will learn all you need to know about Larrivee and their OM.
