Howdy Y'all, I'm quite sure some Larrivée addicts on this forum will be able to help a poor frenchman looking for some informations on an oldie but goodie ...
I'm the proud owner of a nice 1991 12 strings Larrivée J-25 guitar and I'd like to know a little bit more on it and if an approximate value could be estimated since I owned it for about 15 years and don't have a clue of its real value. Thanks already for your help. I will send some pics soon to show that beautiful Eagle inlay on the headstock (and the rest of the guitar) A bientôt !  :nana_guitar :nanadance

Welcome Phil.    I have to confess I don't know if I've ever seen a "25' designation on any Larrivee guitar.    The J would indicate a Jumbo of course.   But I have no clue what the "25" designates.    Is it Rosewood or Mahogany back and sides ?  (I  suppose it could be maple too)   Are you sure of the 25 ?    Photos would be a big help.   What does the label say and also what is printed on the neck block inside the guitar ?

The 25 designation I have seen in the past. The whole numerical model # marking in the 80's very early 90's it was common to see 25, 30, 35, 40.

They were designated the # cause it made a lot of sense at the time tho problem is not many around that can remember what that reasoning was for the differentiation in the designations.

Likely the best we can do for you now is give you an idea of what the modern day equivalent to your model is today.

We would find a picture or two most helpful to do this for you. Unless you have an external photo storage site ( eg. photobucket) you will need 10 posts before you are enabled to post a picture. ( Forum Rules).

Speaking of such please give The Rules a quick read only takes a couple minutes.

Not sure if this helps any but I have an old catalog from the late 80's that shows a  9 a 10 and a 45 Deluxe 12 string  and 72 Presentation model but no 25 however from the fretboard markings at that time those were used on  "Special models" maybe that was a special order from someone, some different combo of wood or size perhaps an e-mail to Larrivee might get you the information on exactly what that model was. Very nice looking guitar.  :welcome: :thumb

Hello, I've got an answer from Mike Kitchen at Larrivée who was able to give the exact date the guitar has been made and reference number which is J-25. I sent him some pics this afternoon and the reply is the same. Not a lot of informations though  :crying:
I'll try to send some more pics on friday when I get back home, showing the inside label and inlays and also both sides of the guitar.  :wave
