My quest for the perfect set of steel strings ended when I realized that I enjoy different kinds of stings to keep things interesting. After about a year I just  went back to Daddario EXPs. They have a strong midrange punch that nicely compliments my Larriveee. There are other strings I like as much or more right out of the box but as I recall the EXP' will still sound about as good several months from now.If I were forced to stick with one brand of strings the EXP's would be my choice. I guess you could say it's my favorite default string.

me too. I seem to like the EXP-12's the best which are medium 80/20's

I've become partial to Elixir PB lights....everything that I own has them on it,but if Elixir went out of business tomorrow,I would switch to EXP's....I've used them and they sound very good!

What I like to do when I'm not murdering perfectly good guitar tunes.

I happen to be giving exp's a whirl. nice strings so far. I'm very pleased. But my favorite all time strings that I happen to love the most are DR Sunbeams.
They hit that perfect sweet spot for me...somewhere inbetween 80/20's and phosphor bronze. they don't mellow like phosphor bronze either and they last a surprisingly long time!!!
Best strings for the money...for me, that is. They are just right for me. But I'll see how these EXP's stack up....stay tuned.

P.S. I also had a favorite string for my L-03-12RE: John pearse 80/20's They were the perfect match for the sound I was looking for. They really gave that baby some extra punch without sacrificing any bass....and that guitar packed one hell of a whallop.....I'm still "whalloping" myself for selling it!!!
