I took my OM-05MT to my luthier yesterday (Tom Dodson...he is the part I am impressed with) and he started to install my Anthem pickup into my guitar. I had the pickup installed originally in my D-50 and did not like the way it sounded after putting it through its paces for several months. The part I am disappointed with is that the pickup would not fit into my guitar. It would BUT it called for drilling through a brace on the top to install the UST and Tom advised me not to do that. I am glad he did so because I would have never thought to look at that and he was honest enough to tell me. Thats the reason I take my guitars to him. He does great work and he is honest. He told me what he would install as far as UST's go and got in touch with a local store that happened to have the Fishman Matrix Infinity narrow format in stock. I went to the store and bought it at a good price and Tom installed it while I was there. I walked out of his shop yesterday with a pickup in my guitar. The fishman sounds pretty good. Of course, its not a mic or anything but it will do what I want it to do.

So, now I have a used L.R. Baggs Anthem for sale that is in great condition. I am going to post it in the For Sale section so if you are interested P.M. me or send me an email at danclax@yahoo.com

This is interesting. Someone I know has high praises for the anthem in his Larrivee.

the install manual doesn't say anything about drilling holes in the supports.

I think it depends on the guitar and when the brace hits under the bridge. With the anthem you have to drill at an angle instead of straight down and to drill it at the correct angle he said he would have to drill through the brace and he showed me where the brace hit under the bridge. It really stunk because I wanted to hear what it sounded like but oh well.

Hm...I'm a bit confused, the Anthem fit my OM-03MT just fine and I don't recall the installers having any issues or mentioning drilling at all. I have been very, very happy with the performance and sound quality while performing in several different venues. As a matter of full disclosure, I always exchange whatever DI box is onstage with my LR Baggs Venue DI, which allows me to tweak as needed for the room.

I have wondered how the Anthem would perform with the "big-ness" of a dread, but I love it in my OM!

On a separate note, just recorded two versions of the same song, one with my D-10 and one with my OM-03MT...my D-10 is my go to stage guitar for most of my songs, but I LOVED how the OM-03MT recorded!!!

Dan if what you prefer sound wize is a mic use a mic.My preference is a mic and in some settings I can't BUT when I play solo or with one particular duo partner I can.In the duo we both use the GHS A133 this is a mic that I can place on velcro which I have on my guitar I run that thru Baggs pre amp DI,for added support{mostley for vocals} we use a large diaphram and a cheap one at that, itsan MXL from G.C..For playing with the guys that I can't use the mic with I use an active Ibeam which I also run thru the pre amp DI from baggs. Both sound good but there's nothing like a mic.In some case's I also use a SM57 from the 60's.

I dont prefer to use a mic. I play in a band with drums, keyboard, electric guitar, etc. I just wanted to know what the anthem would be like. I did take a look inside my guitar with a mirror and it looks like it would be really close for the element to get in there. I would rather not have taken the chance of it squeezing in by the brace and end up drilling through the brace. Remember the Anthem is for sale.
