I just discovered a weird, very hard, matte finish, black sticker inside my OM-60. Its like taped to the side of the guitar on the inside on the upper bout?

Its about 4 inches long and almost the full height of the side of the guitar. I've never seen anything like it before. Is it supposed to be there?

Yes, that's where the cut-out for a preamp would go if you had one installed.

Congrats you're the millionth person to wonder what the mysterious black patch is for.

It's there to make cutting out the side for electronics easier. They all have it.

Not all, remember the guy who had the conspiracy against him and his guitar. It had been torn out of his guitar by a scrupulous seller, supposedly it was a sticker denoting the guitar as a second.

I remember that thread. I don't think he was ever convinced otherwise.

Quick detour,  Hey Mark, did you notice my avatar. Look familiar?

Roger, you know I  saw that guitar and it didn't even register with me.
I want you to know I am taking very good care of it, I play it every day.
It's been in DADGAD for the last couple of weeks.
It hasn't been lounging around n the case, that's for sure.
One of my favorite guitars.  :nice guitar:

I just like that picture so much I decided to show it off.  :bgrin:

I really liked that guitar but the short scale just didn't fit me well.  You better play the daylights out of it now because when you get the 00-03MT the Parlor might be taken a rest for awhile.

Well, to my credit I did go to the Larrivee website and try to find out what it was. A forum search didn't turn up anything either.

I kinda thought that was what it was for but, I've never seen one before. Bright idea though on Larrivee's part.

Thanks for the info. Maybe this thread will turn up in searches by others in the future.   :thumb

I've not done it but I wonder if taking that out would damage the wood under it or improve the resonance in any way, just a curiosity?

I thought it was there so you could cut in a sound port. That's what I'm doing on my 00-03MT.
