LS-03 as an on-the-sofa stand-in for an L-o3?

Greetings and apologies in advance for the new post if this topic has been covered previously.  I consider my L-03RE the best all-around acoustic that I've ever owned.  It's certainly the most versatile and most used and it's certainly the best value.  But, for convenience and logistical reasons I usually leave it in our rehearsal space.  So, I'm looking at an LS-03 as a possible stay-at-home surrogate with a smaller sofa-friendly body size but with the same scale neck/nut/saddle width, etc.  In fact, that's why I'd prefer a "standard issue" LS over the Forum guitar.  Of course, I expect that it won't have all the bass or volume of the larger body but, that's okay as long as it feels and plays similarly.  Any comments? :donut

If I could handle a "full scale" 14 fret guitar, I have no doubts a L-03 (or LV if I could find one or a L or LV-05) would be "the" guitar for me.  Like you say, I find them to be the most versatile guitars I've played.  I haven't had a chance to play an LS, but I bet they'd be pretty similar though with a whisper less bass, perhaps.  Nothing a little technique couldn't compensate for.

Hi vibroluxreverb,

I have both Larrivée L bodies and an LS. Yes they feel and play similarly. Larrivée is remarkably consistent.

Although they sound different, I wouldn't say that it is necessarily the case the the LS offers less bass or volume.

The LS body style is a delight.

The LS has it's own sweet voice.  More focused mids perhaps than the L body.  A few years ago a certain LS-05 at Wildwood kept calling my name.  I went to visit her as often as I could but she went home with someone else.   Sigh.....

How about a Larrivee OM?  Very comfortable, similar dimensions as the LS.  I love mine!

I purchased, and sadly sold, an LSV-05 several years back.  Superb instrument.  Great tone and so comfortable.  That being said, the FIII offers the same scale/nut/saddle as the 14 fret incarnation of the LS only in a 12 fret body which makes it even more comfy for couch playing in my books.  I can do it all on my FIII.  Strumming, fingerstyle, flatpicking, it all works.  If you can try one, you might consider it.

You may want to try an OM-03R and love it. Try one...

Sorry to be a contrarian, but the LS, OM, and 000 are  not THAT much smaller., an inch or so. A 00 or Parlor would be much better on the couch if you find the L too big. But if you just want a stay-at-home, then, all those models fit the bill great. (except the 000 - too wide.)

I don't know what it is about my Parlor (P-09), but I can't get it out of my hands, I simply love the feel and sound. I actually would like a PV-09 Sunburst. Anybody own one? What are your thoughts?
