Have several mahog and am looking for a rose dread.  Can't go the D28 so i'm looking at considerably less money, however quality? Testing the waters to see what's out there...

Thanks....Merry CHRISTmas...

Of course expect Larrivée D's to be recommended. If you like the Martin thing, their D-16RGT is an option.

Ditto the comment from CC.

Jim Holler has both a new and slightly used D-16RGT on his web site at Trinity Guitars. Also check out his rosewood Badens. Kind of funky looking but lots of high praise from some users.

My D60 is still available on the For Sale Forum....
D-60, Guild D40, 83 Tele, Anderson Hollow Cobra, Avalon AS201, bunch of amps

It may be more than you want to spend, but I have a 2001 Martin HD-28 in fantastic shape for sale at $1800.

Hi:

Check out my add for my D-03R in the For Sale section. I think you'll find it compares very favorably to D-28, et al at a price you can afford!

Thanks,

I have a 2004 Martin D35 for sale and 1500 will take it.  I am in the Indiana area if you are interested.   please email jwdecour@indiana.edu

I own a Blueridge BR-160.  This guitar plays well.  This guitar is the best Martin D-28 copy I've played.  Great for flatpicking with the 1 11/16 nut.  You can find these guitars for about $500 used, and $700 new.  Try one!
P.S.  You do have to get used to the amount of abalone on the peghead, kinda over the edge for me.

GC on the north side of Indy (I don't know if your close) has a D-03R that sounds very good to my ears.  The price is right and negotiable I'm sure.

It might be worthwhile playing a Martin then playing a Larrivee D-03r or D-09 back to back. I like to try guitars in a store while standing close to a wall or window (facing it, of course) so I can hear the guitar. And then, frankly, have a bit of sing. Pick a song that matches your style. Who cares if one guitar is 50 or 100 or 200 more or less? What if it matches up to your "sound"? What if it points you toward a new "sound"? I'd pay plenty for a guitar like that; and scowl and anyone who had anything bad to say about it! Good luck in your search. Great fun.

Wow I haven't seen them at that New $ in a while - where can U gettem for that? I also heard that the new models peghead abalone has been toned down somewhat.
