problem? Larrivee OM hard shell case modified to fit added strap button

hello all, as per my signature, i own a larrivee OM 09 which i love but have encountered a problem.  i not too long ago added a strap button to the treble side of the heel , somewhat in the middle.  since then i was able to close and latch the larrivee hard shell case for it without too much trouble but today i noticed that the guitar sits in the case slightly leaning to the bass side and slightly higher than without the button (i took the button off and noticed how naturally it sits in the case without the button).

obviously my concern is that the case is designed to fit the heel like a glove but with the button it puts unnecessary pressure on the button and thus the hole drilled in the heel block when the case is shut on the guitar.  is there any way to modify the case where the heel meets the interior that doesn't fall short of just chiseling away at it until a space is made to account for the strap button?

anyone out there who has added a strap button to the heel of their guitars, how do you cope with its fit in the case? if at all?

thanks for any and all help, this is bothering me

You put it on the side of the heel, not the bottom, right? I've done that to all my guitars without a problem. Is it the original HS Larrivee case (arched top)? My Larri is the L-03 and doesn't have the deluxe case but I would think that it wouldn't make a difference. I can't imagine any case interfering unless the button was put on the heel cap. Jim Holler would probably be the definitive source on this one.

correct, the button is on the treble side of the heel, definitely not the bottom.  the last 2 guitars i added a button to, the case was not a problem, but this larrivee archtop doesnt leave space for it....

I would just compress the foam in that area a little. I have done this to two cases to adapt to different guitars. You may not want to though.
But if you do you could use a clamp and just compress it. I have many different style clamps and would probably use the ones with rubber end caps and the squeeze handle. You would need to think a little about protecting all around where you are doing this.
I could see it working out right though.

ah yes it is a sort of styrofoam inside.  no worries, i think i solved it.  i cut the fabric open and carved out a path for the button in the foam.  now just to get some dark blue felt or something to make the incision less noticeable.  thanks everyone :beer

I bought a lot of black felt once at a fabric store for making all kinds of case modificatins and using protective covering etc.
(even put some in my cowboy hat as a sweat band)
