Now that's what a high quality guitar SHOULD look like. I bought a lightly used L-03 that was either custom or the previous owner put the polish to and, to my mind, it's what a guitar was meant to look like!

I'd say I put about 6 hours of sanding/polishing, plus time for taping off the fretboard, bridge, neck, and endpin (using blue painters tape).  My shoulder was pretty tired by the end.

Hard to say if it changed the sound.  I put new strings on it right after I did the top.  It sounds a little more "open", if that means anything, but it might just be the new strings.

I'm still really happy with it.  It feels like a custom guitar to me now, like it has some more mojo somehow.  Hard to explain, but it feels more like MY guitar.

Looks great Brodie and sounds like you like it. I'm sure it will even make for a good conversation piece. I'll keep looking at the pics for now and maybe later this year I'll look into doing the same thing.

I love the look of a glossed up satin finish but I think it looks best on a rosewood guitar.  It really brings out the grain.  I doubt I'll be doing that with either of my FIII's.

Great job Ben, it look great.  Jeremy's hog back looks great too

Man, I've got to hand it to you guys, everytime I look at those pics, I cringe, so much so that my body feels like jelly. Don't get me wrong, they are magnificent, but I couldn't do it, I don't have the nuts to do it. I  to you, you guys are something else.  :+1:
cheers

I will eventually gloss up my LV-03 RE lefty, but probably not for a year. I still like the new guitar thing going on and I figure once it fades a bit I'll gloss it up and have that new guitar thing renewed. :bgrin:
I probably won't tell my wife while I'm in the midst of it. :whistling:
Not so sure she'll understand :winkin: and I certainly wouldn't want it to cause any

Wow - I soooo wanna do this to my OM-03R. It's had 3 years to age (the rosewood actually lightened up some) and I've been getting tired of the swishing sounds and dull look of the finish.
