More Forum III Guitars Available

About these extra guitars: John Jr sent me an email just before I left for the Larrivee day on 3/16 but asked me not to let it out until he gave me the word. The email had the list of the extra Forum III guitars that were started in case anything happened to the first 78. Now that the guitars are almost done John has released these extra guitars so that we can make them available.
   Randy and I exchanged emails about what would be the best way to offer these guitars and here is the plan that resulted with his input.
1) The guitars would have the forum III label in them but would not get a series number #** of 78
2) They would first be offered to the list of people that missed the close of the order date for what ever reason and asked to be on a waiting list.
3) Next the general forum membership would get a crack at them
4) I will buy the balance if there are any as stock and offer them out of my studio.
  We felt it best to respect the series numbering on the original 78.
Hope this clears up some of the questions. We really wanted to be fair about these " extra " suprise guitars.

FWIW, I think Jim and Randy have come up with a very reasonable approach to the availability of "over run" guitars. Respecting the intention of a numbered limited edition series is key to honoring the group of purchasers that ponied up before the well publicized deadline.

Whatever works. I mean, it's not like they said there were only going to be so many made to start with. They would have made 100 if that many orders were placed. Unfortunately, I wasn't a member then. But it certainly wouldn't be a stigma on the 78 to have some secondary numbering system for 10 more. Not a huge deal.....just saying is all  But I'm sure all that was considered during their discussion, so no biggee

I am really temped to get one of this "spare" FIII.
One question to you who has received and played it:  Hows the neck feels? Playability? Same "stiffness" like standard L series?
I am still on quest for easy playing yet good sounding guitar.
Your info would help my decision.

For what it's worth:    I have an L-10, an OM-03r, a 000-50mt and a new Forum III.  I think the neck on this Forum III is the most comfortable and easiest to play.  Barre chords are a snap which is kind of my barometer for an easy to play guitar.  It's a great size and a very comfortable fit whether sitting or standing.  It just feels real good in my hands.

Peter, this F-3 is an amazing little piece.  The neck is a slightly nicer shape than my 1991 C-19 making it super easy to grab bar chords anywhere, but also to wrap your thumb over for the low E string whenever needed.  The playability is superb, and the tone of mine (IS/RW) is bright, bouncy and not at all tinkly on the trebles nor thuddy on the bass.  Over the whole spectrum, I love it.  My C-19 is sitka/rosewood, and the middles are better on that guitar, but its also almost 20 years old.  My F-3 is about two weeks old, so that one will still open up a ton more.  You're looking for an easy playing, good sounding guitar?  I don't see how you could do any better than the F-3.  If I didn't already have one, I'd buy one immediately.  Knowing now what I know after playing one and hearing others, I would be sorry if I didn't have it.

Seems to me you are missing a Larrivee dread of some sort, any plans? 

I wouldn't say no to an SD-50 if I saw one at the right price................ I'll probably be selling my Guild Jumbo at some point and when I do I'll start seriously looking for an SD-50 or possibly a regular D-50.
The only dread I have is my 93 Gibson Gospel which I won't sell;  too many memories.
