Hi All,
Well I'm new here, and I currently play an Alvarez AD60CK...which I'm tired of...and it was a toss up between Taylor and Larrivee...obviously you know which way I'm leaning.   :winkin:  Anyways, I've noticed the Larrivee LV-19 guitar which I would like to buy somewhere used.......have any of you had or currently play that model?  I'd love to hear any opinions on it...please!

thanks for any info!

:welcome: to the forum, would like you to introduce yourself to the forum with at least a first name please? Then it wouldn't do any harm to drop in a donut or two  :gotdonuts:  :winkin:
Any way, the LV-19 is a terrific guitar which is built from the same grade wood as the top (standard) line 10-series, but without the abalone purfling around the top's perimeter. It is in fact "the same guitar" as the LV-10, which is a real treasure.
I highly recommend that guitar, you won't be disappointed.

There seem to be many variations of the 19 series. Originally it was supposed to be an offering between the nine series and the ten series, IE better woods without all the bling.

When Larrivee moved to Oxnard, California they made a few different runs of 19 series guitars. To commemerate the move to CA they made the California model which contained Maple purfling that was died a turquoise color, a inlaid palm tree on the headstock and California inlaid at the twelfth fret.

My LV-19E was referred to as a deluxe collectors edition, it came with deluxe woods, the turquoise purfling, abalone rosette, the deluxe inlays on the fingerboard and bridge, and a vine inlay on the headstock. The E after the LV-19 denotes the addition of a pick-up, mine has the B-Band A-2.2 which has a soundboard and under saddle transducer with mix and volume controls accessible through the soundhole. So not all 19 series were built the same and they were not all between the 9 and 10 series.

The dealer where I bought mine told me that Jean took these on as a special project and worked on them in his spare time. Hence the fact that mine was started in 2002 and the dealer got it in 2006 and I bought it from them in 2007.

I'm sure except for the appointments it is the same as a LV-10E.

It plays like a dream and sounds like an angel.

Although I paid more for mine than a 10 series would cost, there are other 19 series out there for much less. If you get the opportunity to play one I am sure you will be impressed.

Hi all thanks so much for the info!  My name is Josh btw.  Right now I'm in the process of trying to sell my Martin Committee trumpet (Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dizzy, Chris Botti etc all play or have played Committee model)  I'm hoping to buy a Larrivee with the money made from the horn.

How much smaller is the L series from the D series?  Will I notice that much of a sound difference?

An L and D are both 16inch accross the lower bout. The L has a narrower waist however. An L is the signature Larrivee with balanced tone, whereas a D leans a bit more towards the bass spectrum.

Hi Josh,

I have a Larrivee LV19 as well.  It has the blue purflings but no vine inlays.  I was choosing between a Taylor, Martin and Larrivee, and at the end, I chose the LV19 because it sounded the best to me.  It was indeed the most balanced of them all, and the rosewood gave it a nice warm sound, which I liked.  On top of all that, the wood is beautifully grained.  You won't go wrong with this choice!

Unfortunately, the 2 I was looking at sold on eBay.  If anyone is selling an LV 19 PLEASE let me know!!!!!!
