This guitar has been in my personal stash since 1998.  These were introduced in 1993...
Price Drop 12/15 to SOLD and shipped CONUS.

Lots of pics at http://soundchunks.com/Larrivee/index.html  here's a teaser:

From the Larrivee archives (the mention of -50s and -60s series here do not represent the current models with the same number... )

From the 2000 Larrivee FAQs:
"Now for the "50" "60" and "70".... In 1993 we introduced a series of guitars with some slight design modifications that used the numbers "-50", "-60" and "-70". While most were dreadnoughts, there were also some L bodies, Jumbos, Cutaways, and even a few OM's. The main design modification was an oversize sound hole with the bracing shifted a bit to the rear of the body. Similar models had been introduced by other builders with some success, and we were curious how the big sound hole would interact with Larrivée bracing design. The dreadnoughts had somewhat deeper bodies than our standard dreadnoughts. The original idea was to try and build a guitar which would be particularly suited to bluegrass, and the first guitars were all dreadnoughts. Later, we became intrigued enough to try the big sound hole on other body types. These models had a somewhat different sound from our other instruments. They had a lot of horsepower. They sounded a bit drier than our other models but with lots of volume. To this day, I get lots of communications from people who own and love them, far beyond what I would expect from the total numbers produced. But, while these guitars were artistic successes, for the most part, they didn't really find a market niche. Silly us. We made a guitar for the bluegrass market but didn't put a visible pickguard on it. The D-50's and D-60's had a classical looking wood marquetry rosette. Like all Larrivée guitars, they had wood binding and purfling. They didn't look like bluegrass guitars. While we thought at the time these cosmetic features would set us apart, what they really did was keep us out of the club. The models were discontinued after 383 instruments were built."

++++++++++++++++++++++++

So, enlarged soundhole, deep body L series, with abalone purfling and soundhole inlay, and custom inlay on the headstock.  Premium IE rosewood, best materials available.  List on these was $3000 in the 90s.  This has an EMG APA preamp and UST installed.  This is an underrated and great sounding pickup.  Very natural sound (endpin jack, no other mods, preamp/battery attached to neck block with HD velcro.)  There are a few pick marks in front of the transparent pick guard and some pick wear on bottom of sound hole.  You can also see a ding on the edge of the underside upper bout (and that looks worse in the sunlight, basically it's in the clear lacquer...)

There's a reason I've kept this guitar 10 years, and other than trying to lower my case count I don't have a great reason to sell it today... Balanced sound, plays well, lots of volume unplugged...  Includes OHSC.

Was $1750 now $1600 paypal'd and Shipped in CONUS.  Might consider partial trade for a Larrivee D-03E  or D-05E or Taylor 400E series  (have someone looking for something in that general price range...)

I put over $1600 into this guitar in 1998 and never had a regret... I'm sure you won't either.  Again, lots of pics at

Plenty of References... This is a "must have" for a Larrivee collector...priced to go.

Wow, I thought with the opportunity to get this with a partial trade I might have a bite or two by now.  I know, no one wants to shove their friend out of the way to get to it  :laughin:

Are you interested in a national?

I've been selling and buying guitars for some time on the web (magwa1 on ebay, ~280 feedback @ 100% positive..Mostly high-end stuff.
I've never seen the dynamics of what is happening in today's guit market.  Must be the scary news and job instability, etc.

I have a Taylor 814ce that I love.  My case count is too high, so I decided to sell when I bought the new Santa Cruz H13. But "no sale" at $2000.
I'm not Pollyanna, thinking that just because I paid $3,000 for the Taylor in September of 2007 that she should bring $2,900 in today's market.
But the book says $2,300 to $2,600. So I shot at $2,000 and it missed!!!! :laughin:

I miss my L09 enough to do an even trade if your 400 series Taylor buyer wants to move up the ladder a notch.

Maybe this is not the place for this post.  But I've been alerted to two PM's from members of the Forum that do not show up anywhere I can find on the site or in my personal e-mail or in my personal; e-mail spam.

If I missed a response from anyone, I apologize.  Also, if anyone has any tips for getting my PM's, I'd appreciate the ping.  The FAQ's seem to direct me to nowhere.  And (altho I did not research this one), is there some sort of limitation or induction requirement prior to being authorized to post pictures?  That would be strange.

Thanks,

Magwa
