Amber or Cherry Sunburst?

I've been wondering about the new Larrivee electrics and thinking that the amber color was my least favorite,  but after seeing the 12th Fret listing http://www.12fret.com/new/Larrivee_RS-4_Solidbody_Electric_Guitar_pg.html  I may be changing my mind.  That thing looks way better than I was originally thinking,  although that cherry sunburst that Guitar Adoptions has looks sweet as well http://guitaradoptions.com/store/home.php?cat=377 .  I phoned the Fret for a price and was told that they only had one delivered so far and it sold within about ten minutes.  Guess it could be a while before I actually get to test one out.  Has anyone out there actually had there hands on one and plugged it in.  The sound files aren't that helpful through my terrible computer speakers.

The Amber one first caught my eye, and the pics from 12th Fret only make me lust for it more.

I have decided on the amber myself. At least for the first one.  :nana_guitar

OK, just to be contrary, I like the cherry sunburst better.  Not sure if I'll ever fork over the dough for a Larrivee electric, but they do look pretty nice, don't they.

Duck...that is just too funny.  Now, I am lusting for a charcol one.  Talk about a reversal.

I'm partial to the cherry myself.

Cutaway, thanks for the heads-up that the one at the Fret sold.  You saved me a trip!

One thing I learned at the shop was that the amber ones have the best maple tops.  The ones with the burst can have imperfections, which will be covered by the burst.  Matthew told me that he personally goes over each top piece and decides what color it will be.  By imperfection, I mean in the flame pattern, and not in the wood itself.

I figured as much and that's why I want the orange. I saw the unfinished tops in your previous thread from Yarnell Place and started drooling over the maple. In the future, an RS4 with a natural top would be a nice addition. You and Matthew are like da candyman ... er ... men.

How's about a quilted maple top

No thanks, I'm trying to quit.  :crying:

I'm heading up to Toronto on Saturday. I'm going to drop into The 12th Fret on my way down the Don Valley Parkway and hold one of those beauties in my arms.

Even with the "imperfections" I would go with a cherry burst .  Something about electrics and cherry burst.  Though the charcoal looks very nice also.  Can't wait to hear some hands on reviews of them.   :nanadance

I'll a 3-tone or tobacco burst over cherry any day.  Of the Larrivee offerings, I'd go with the charcoal.  I just don't dig lighter bursts...

Laminate Boy, they've sold the one they had. I doubt they'll get another before the weekend.

But there are always lots of other reasons to spend an hour or so there....

One Amber, one Charcoal Burst...  :+1:

I get the feeling there's going to be a run on the Amber ones...the Charcoal Burst was my first choice until I saw Walkerman's pics from the factory.  Now it's Amber...

Cherry sb reminds one of the original Les Pauls of the 1950s.  But a lot of people think it is a little too red.

These things look great but what about the tone has anyone noodled around with one?Kinda wondering what they sound like and specifics about the neck feel and the like would be nice, are they close to anything we would be familiar with.Comming in at only 8 lbs is gonna be nice.

It's SIMPLE...which one do you like...personal choice!!
