Thanks a lot.
Can you say ENABLER ?
My wife always says "How many guitars can you play at one time anyway ?"  I think this is a strange question coming from someone who owns 25 pairs of flip-flops.

Kids grow up, dogs die, wives leave but guitars are forever!

QuoteMy advice:  Get rid of everything you own and go down to one guitar.  Focus on the playing of music and not just the tones and feel of the instrument and you'll start to see guitar playing in an entirely different light.  In fact, in my view, this is where one really starts to become a musician instead of just another guitar player.

I think this advice is spot on and it's something that has crossed my mind several times over the last few years.  I have some excuse for keeping most of mine (best 12-string ever, MT's no longer being made, just got it, will never find another, blah,blah,blah...) and at the same time I miss the simplicity and contentment  I had growing up when it was just me and my old Gibson J-45.

I feel it's something I should do and yet I don't want to part with anything... I'm so weak......

Okay, but did her 25 pairs cost upwards of $500 each?   :roll
Play it daily for best results.

Cruel indeed.    A few months ago I was revelling in the glow of my first Larrivee.   A left handed OM-03R which I am incredibly pleased with.  Of all my "good" guitars, Gibsons, Guild, Martin (now gone) etc. the OM-03R just sounded and played beyond my expectations.  I was convinced that the OM-03R was going to be my last guitar purchase for a good long while.
Then, without  a warning of any kind,  BHIKA lists a 2005 Lefty L-10 for sale and posts pictures.  I resisted  valiantly at first.  I told myself "It's a great lookiing guitar and it probably sounds even better but you've got all the guitars you could possibly need."   This sentiment was enthusiatically echoed by my wife, incidentally.  Then I got to thinking how rarely us lefties get a shot at truly fine guitars most of the time.   I managed to convince myself that if I did pretty well on a business trip to Las Vegas I should reward myself.  ...............

Fed Ex will be here next Tuesday.

Somebody please stop me before I buy again.
This is the WRONG place to ask for help.  This place is the REASON you have GAS to begin with.  That L-10 is a great addition to your collection and I wish you many, many years of enjoyment.

I suggest a Hog Top for your next addiction, I mean addition.

Hey, you know how it is being a lefty:  You tend to get excited when you get an opportunity to acquire a top quality guitar in a lefty version.  However, I do think it's a bit pre-mature to be thinking of the next guitar, hog top or otherwise, when I'm still awaiting delivery of the latest one.   Soon I'll be faced with the task of choosing one of the herd to sacrifice as a result of an ill-thought-out agreement with the management.  You know;  the old "one in / one out" formula for GAS control.   What should I let go ?   I've kind of narrowed it down to the Gibson Hummingbird, the Guild GAD JF30, or the Schecter CSH-1 Electric.  I can't bare to think of parting with any of the others right now.
By the way Bluesman67,  here's a little guy playing guitar the way we do.

Well, if you know whats good for your business, you have got to keep management happy.  So pick one to say goodbye.  I vote for the Schecter, unless you don't have another electric.

That little lefty dude looks a little stunned, what's he been playing?  I like him so much that he's attached to me now.

Yeah I was leaning towards the Schecter too.  It's a beautiful and great sounding guitar but I do have 4 other electrics that cover the solid body to hollow body range quite well.  It's really kind of redundant.  I think I'll see what I can get for it since it's practically new.   To tell you the truth, if Bhika's L-10 arrives and proves to be everything I'm hoping it will be, I may sell the Hummingbird too.   It's a shame to see it just hanging on the wall while the OM-03R gets 90 percent of the playing time.  After hearing the difference in sound between it and the OM-03R I'm suddenly not as fond of the classic "honey tones" of the Hummingbird as I use to be.
If I decide to sell it I'll post it here first because I know there are a few lefties hanging out here in the shadows.

OOoohhh  Don's infamous D-18...FedEx ever redeem themselves or is this a dead issue now?  And that D-09BW...does it fill the void?

Update.   The Schecter is gone.  A delicate balance has once again been achieved on the homefront.   If you want to see what G.A.S
can result in,  look below.  Warning ! it's not for the faint-hearted.    This room used to be called the Library or the Recording Room.
I've now begun to call it the GAS STATION..............
I need help.

tuffythepug, thats an amazing collection of left handed guitars. My question is what do you do with all the cases?

Well, one case can be seen on the futon on left side of the picture.  One is under the futon and the rest are stacked in the closet.   Most of the time these are put away in their cases with just a couple left out to play.  I got them all out for the family portrait.

Holy smokes, I never saw so many lefties in the same place at the same time!  That is awesome.
