Have 2 now... What will be a good 3rd?

Well I recently added a second guitar(a used '98 OM-03R) that you all helped me decide on a couple of weeks ago. It now resides with my Martin sitka/mahog Dread.

I'm still a novice at playing and acquiring Guitars. I promised myself that I would only own 3 guitars. I know.... I know..... (that's 3 at any one time..)

What would be the best compliment to the OM-03R and the sitka/mahog Dread? As a beginner, I'm leaning towards Blues.

I know the L's are real popular, but I'm leaning towards the smaller bodies, 00.. another OM (maybe MT), or ?????

I need your input.

Well, I very much like a good 00. The LS-09's are very special also. Either of these will require a bit of a hunt as they're not current production models.. but finding a good one is part of the fun.

Why don't you check out the L-03 Walnut or wait to see what others say about this new model.

Do you Dread players notice much difference in the feel between the L and D's?

I notice big enough difference where I need both L and D body.

Don't forget the Parlors, their compressed boxy tone is great for blues... :mellow:

Martin OOO-15S or a similar all mahogany model from Larrivee.

you should get something vintage.  Like maybe a Gibson L-00, or LGO...maybe an all mahogany small body martin vintage...or just get a larrivee all mahagany parlor, OM, or even an L...all good blues players, and far different than what you already have.

A 1930 OM-28 would work.

Leadbelly, Rev. Blind Gary Davis (used one occasionally I think) and others. But no they aren't that popular for the blues.

For a six-string blues box, I gotta second the Martin 000-15s.  One of those would complement your current collection nicely.

I also like the idea of a twelve-string..how 'bout a jumbo in maple?...you may want to check out the Washburn that's for sale in the Marketplace area.  If you want to spend more $$ on a really nice one, check out a Guild F412.

There have been a lot of blues singers who have played 12 strings over the years. On your second question, I really love my LV but the D is an entirely different guitar in sound and feel. Even tho' mine are the same tonewood (and topwood) they still are very different.

There is an all Mahogany Forum 12 fret OM in the buy and sell that is a great blues guitar.

Or get a Dobro (resonater guitar).

Err... Some sort Jumbo.  If you got the dough, the Gibbson SJ100 xtras (or the more elaborate versions if you have more money) is great.  But You can't exactly go wrong with a guild.

Yeah it'd be nice to have a nylon too.  heard good things about Lucida.  I really liked some of the almansa's I played, but they are not always consistent.  Most are good, some are amazing.

I play some blues. I just got a 00-60 (although truth-be-told some folks think that a 00-50 might have been a better blues box) to add to a SD-60 and two Larrivee parlors; one mahogany & one rosewood.

00 is a great size. I think this will be my main guitar for a while anyway. Larrivee makes a really nice 00 if you can find one. I got mine from Dave @ Guitar Adoptions. (recommended)
