We're still living in an internet world...

...is there any way to know how many hits you've had on your site in the past year? That might tell you whether it's worth having or not.

I'm an old fart, so I'm not really the right one to give advice about this...

Can you put a dollar value on "most people seem to find me via a google search"?

The number of hits is less important than the number of people who contact you as a result of having found you online.

Also - $300 feels a little steep. My hosting fees are well less than half of that.

Is that just a hosting fee?
Or are they doing upkeep, changes and maintenance and doing automated backups on your site, too?
How many pages does your site contain?
Is it pretty static, or do you take online payments and online orders (more interactive) with customers? If so, this requires SSL certificates. Figure about $50/year for SSL certs.
Name registration is about $10/year I think, no matter who your host is.
A simple Wordpress site without the bells and whistles should cost far less than $300/year.
Check these guys out:Bluehost
It’s easy to move. They can forklift your site over to a new host server.
