So did anyone get to Ventura to check out the Larrivee factory sale on guitars on Black Friday weekend?

I bought my first Larrivee at the sale: a LV-09 with Flamed Ash on the back and sides; no pickup, and case included for $2274.

I played a of Larrivees but this one was set up beautifully and just too gorgeous to ignore. I had been in the market for a serious acoustic for awhile now (upgraded from a Seagull S6) so I am happy I waited for this sale.

Was this a good deal?

If you love the guitar's sound, materials and set-up as much as you said, then yes, it's a good deal...as long as you don't suddenly decide in 6 months you want something different and sell it for half of that. If it's a keeper guitar, then it's a good investment at that price.

The important thing to remember about Larrivee's is that they are wonderful instruments; they have a unique balanced tone, and I really like their necks and the new standard 16" fretboard radius. BUT - they do not hold their value like Martin's and a few others... it's just a public conception and popularity thing.

If that doesn't bother you, then you can relax and enjoy your Larrivee. AND you can find great deals on the used market (when you start getting GAS for that next one...)!

I think you did good! That is a sweet looking -09! Love the grain of the ash back! Beautiful woods! I hope you enjoy it for a long time, and pass it on to your young one!

That flamed ash is beautiful!

I didn't go to the sale but I did order up some JCL tuners w/ the Cyber monday deal. Looking forward to putting them on the Forum II.
