A bit of a shocker. Although not that big a fan of their music, he could sure play.

Yes - a real shocker to hear that today. Way too young.

I'm another who wasn't a "fan" in the sense of buying their albums or going to see them in concert, but certainly marveled at him as a guitarist/artist.

I was and am a big fan.  His music served as a big part of my boyhood and the soundtrack behind many of my memories.  Sad day.

I certainly liked Hot for Teacher and a few other things. It was more that Roth annoyed me than not liking them. Sorry if I appeared flippant. It is a great loss to the music world and his fans.  :beer

For anyone interested, here is a brilliant little piece where Eddie played acoustic guitar and piano.  I've always found it somewhat hypnotic and very beautiful.  It's called "New World," and hopefully EVH has entered and is now enjoying a new world.
