I know he has disappeared a few times over the years and always reappeared, but this time it's been a good while.  Anyone heard from him?

We stumbled across each other on FB a few months ago, so we are friends there.
We don't actually communicate, its more like I feel better just knowing Duck is out there.

I don't want to talk behind his back but I like Duck (despite disagreeing with him often) and I'll tell you "the way I heard it"...
There was some headbutting towards the end (specifically around an artsy Grit Laskin guitar, IIRC) and he ultimately chose to not participate after that. I think there's a general sentiment that's he's missed, even by those whose feathers he ruffled. Duck was the (other) crazy uncle of the Larrivee forums. Loveable, but also inappropriate at times.

Hard to imagine he's "gone, gone" and as far as I'm concerned, I'd love to see him back.

Wow, I guess I missed the headbutting, etc, and never knew about any of that.  Hard to imagine folks getting that upset over a guitar discussion, but it happens all the time at the AGF. It probably happens in any subculture.

I'm glad to hear he's still alive (you never know with online "friends" since folk just disappear and are never seen again in many cases). I always enjoyed his somewhat crusty, Archie Bunker-esque personality and posts.

He's the only poster that I wasted no time in hitting the *ignore* button.

That's as much as I'll say.
Herman.

 Forum VI, & "others"

Two things I seem to recall that Ducktrapper and I had in common. We both like Bob Dylan songs and he bought a used 1975 Martin D-35 with a "shade top" that was built about a year ahead of my 1976 model with the identical specs. The major difference was that his 50 year old guitar was in near mint condition and my 49 year old guitar is well played. I also remember reading a post from him about a cheap guitar he had found and fixed up that he really enjoyed.

Over the years, I've tried not to bash other brands or builders and I attempt to respect other people's point of view and share my perspectives and experience. OTOH, It's not hard for me to imagine people getting upset on social media platforms because it's easy to do. One of the things I like about this forum is the fact that the moderators keep us on a short leash when necessary if the discussion gets too lively or off track.

Remember, we can all learn to disagree without being disagreeable. That's easier said than done in today's world but it is doable.

You are right about people getting upset easily on social media platforms, etc.  It dawned on me while reading your post that there are more opportunities than ever to let stuff get to a person if one is so inclined.  Back in the day one might see something that outrages on the news, etc., but now it's easy to get outraged online in seconds.  This stuff is probably screwing people up way more than we realize.

Not sure how you all feel, but for me this forum is a like a place to stretch out, breathe deeply, and just enjoy some online time.

At any rate, if you're reading this, duck, I wish you well.

Ha!  I forgot all about the ignore feature here.  I think I unintentionally ruffled your feathers a time or two in the past and am glad you've not put me on the list too!

We are all Larrivee-lovers here.  To me that is like a kind of guitar brotherhood.

Just a general question, if someone leaves this group are all their posts and comments deleted or does it still remain on this site. I have been on things where someone leaves, and all their comments are gone, and the discussion is hard to make sense of.

It all remains. Generally, one can only delete one's own posts.
No one would really know when someone leaves the group.

I heard a rumor that ducktrapper is now on a hip hop music forum under the user name "duct rapper". This, of course, is a complete rumor and can only be verified by Snoop Dogg.
