Sadly I'm parting with my 2018 OM-40R.  I'll probably regret it.  I've been browsing for the "perfect" guitar for over a year now.  Nothing has really caught my eye until recently, and this amateur finger-picker only needs one guitar.  It looks and sounds great.  It has the Dancer headstock (one of my favorite inlays).  It's never left the house.  I've never even used a pick - just my fingers.  The guitar has minor wear, but it's played everyday.  I've kept it on a stand in the living room.  I do humidify the room.  The original case and everything that came with the guitar is included (truss rod wrench, certificate, etc.).  I upgraded the bridge pins to bone, which I ordered from Larrivee.  I still have the original bridge pins, and they'll be in the case too.

Here's a Youtube video playing it:

I apologize for the sound quality.  I just shot these on an old phone.  The song is Trouble in Mind arranged by David Hamburger for the Fingerstyle Five.

Asking $1,750.00.  I'd prefer to sell in person (Oregon), but I'm willing to ship to the lower 48 states.

Feel free to ask questions.  I'll try to post photos over the weekend.  Let me know if I missed any important information.

Your videos seem to be set to "private". I imagine this will sell very quickly at this price, even without videos, but you may want to set them for public viewing.

Thanks Bowie,

Let's try this again:

Hey coldcoffee, that is a really fantastic guitar.  I mean this in the most supportive way for you, but I fear you may regret selling that beauty. Are you just looking for something different? I would seriously think deeply about selling that guitar. The inlay on the headstock is a work of art.

I agree with StringPicker. You mentioned that you've been browsing for the perfect guitar but based on your description and playing in the two You Tube videos, it looks like you've already found it. I'd be curious to know what you're looking for that this guitar lacks.

If you spend much time on this forum, you can find countless stories of "seller's remorse" about the one that got away. Good luck with your final decision.

Thanks for the kind words.

I bought a 2024 Larrivee 000-50FSB. It's honestly the prettiest guitar I've ever seen and the low end carries a nice steady bass for my playing style.  I do, however, think the OM I'm selling cuts through the noise better than the 000 when playing with others.  I just rarely find time to play with others. I have a 3-year-old little girl who thinks she's going on 16. I stay home most of the time.

I have a few thoughts on all Larrivee OMs worth sharing.  When I ventured out and tried playing lots of guitars, I tried several Martins, Collings, etc. I assumed all OMs were the same dimensions.  They're not.  Larrivee's OMs are noticeably larger.  For me, that's more comfortable and louder. I like the Larrivee build dimensions more than other guitar makers.

I agree with you. I like a larger body instrument particularly concerning body depth. I have a Matin 000-15SM that sounds great, but I just can't get over the thin body depth. I'm probably going to sell it just for that reason. I have read that the Larrivee OMs have more body depth than other OM models. Regarding the sound of the OM vs the 000, I think the 14-fret body connection have more presence than the 000 instruments. When I play my 14-fret Larrivee dreadnoughts, I find that that the sound just projects and sustains better while the 000 has an easier plucking hand attack and a more open sound. That open sound is as loud, but I don't get the impression I have that defining melodic line and sustain of that line that I get with the 14-fret guitar. And I believe the reason for this is because the bridge is placed on the underlying braces. I do prefer the 12-fret appearance aesthetically, but I ultimately go for sound. And I wonder if that is why Martin builds their 12-fret instruments with the upper bout built up to the 12th fret so they can keep the bridge on the braces. You lose that open sound of the bridge moved down on the lower bout, but you get that sustain and presence. That is a beautiful guitar you are selling. I wish I played right handed.

As I have a 3.5 year old at home, I feel fully qualified to make this suggestion to you: Just keep 'em both!!

Then you know how it goes.  I was busking in the living room this morning when I got kicked off my stoop by the competition:

Ah yes, the out of tune ukulele! Isn't it fun tuning the Uke only to have it go out of tune again in 30 toddler seconds?

I'm going to hold off on selling this.  I like my new 000, but I still find myself picking up this OM more.

Even though it shouldn't matter to me at all, this makes me happy.

I'm also happy that you are keeping it. There is no harm in having 2 different guitars that you enjoy.
