I've been using soundclick but I recently tried uploading a song and it sounded awful. I want it to sound true to the original file... any suggestions??

I use putfile and have been quite happy with them....

Then something went wrong that normally doesn't go wrong.  Soundclick doesn't re-sample the songs - at least it hasn't in the past.  Soundclick is a decent option for a single site to host your songs and also let you post a little biographical information as well.

I tried it twice and got the same effect. It didn't sound a little off, it sounded like a totally different recording. I wonder if it has anything to do with converting from 32bit/48khz to mp3, maybe I should have gone to 16 bit first. I'll try messing with the file or some of the sites mentioned.

I use PutFile but I have to admit, it is butt-ugly. I once saw it listed among the aesthetically worst websites (seriously). But it works pretty well most of the time & you can slug in a little bio info if you want.

You didn't try to upload a 32bit 48 kHz recording directly to Soundclick, did you?

I would use a native to your computer piece of software to convert first to .mp3 (minimum 128 kbps) then upload that file to Soundclick.

If it has an in-line converter, yeah it probably had no idea what to do with the doubled bit depth.

No I went 32bit/48KHz to 128kbps then to soundclick.

I should have replied cause I dithered down to 16bit/44.1khz then mp3 then to soundclick and that worked ok, which is the version you hear in my other thread.

Go here and you can listen to both versions. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=480726

Listen to 'WBB' first.

'Whiskey Before Breakfast' is the good (16bit/44.1k) version and 'WBB' is the original one that sounds so weird. I swear these are the same recording.

I've used soundclick, mp3.com, and myspace.  Lately I've pretty much been using myspace, because most of the folks I want to share with are there.  The only problem is that you can only put up six songs at a time.
