I got my 1975 L-11 back from the repair guy today and it's just perfect! I missed this guitar like I'd miss the sun if it never came out.

Nice guitar!  One year younger than me.  Looks like a good library you've got there too.

What repairs were done?  I like the old original wood marquetry rosette, same as my 40th Anniversary.   Is your Brazilian Rosewood?

First of all, the repair was done by Andrew Madsen of Madsen Guitars in Neenah Wisconsin. Four of the braces had come loose and needed regluing plus the top split had come apart again. It will never be invisible but he came close. Yes, Brazilian rosewood and German spruce. Your guitar is Larrivee copying, what in my opinion, is their best guitar. Good idea, if you ask me. This is the finest guitar I own and one of the finest I've ever played and I've played a lot of guitars in the last 60 years.  :beer

It's in good company. I'm down to three Larrivee acoustics but I think they'll do just fine.

Yes, when I picked up the JCL from Jean's hands at the Oxnard shop in 2008, he opened that alligator skin case, smiled and said, "this is the best I can do."
It sounds very similar to my Goodall Rosewood Standard.  My Brazilians D09 and D10 have that reverb sustain tone that is characteristic of good Brazilian guitars. Larrivees are top shelf.

NICE! Yes, I think he told you the truth. My Brazilian has a tone that I've always thought of as glassy or (almost) metallic but in a good way. Crisp?    :?

Andrew has some nice guitars if you happen to visit him there. I don't know if he builds lefties but I can't imagine he couldn't. I'm 35 miles north off of HW-10 near beautiful downtown Waupaca. I'd love to get together if you're passing through and have a few minutes.

Looks great. Glad she's back home.

That would be fun - I'll let you know next time we're heading in that direction. It would also be fun to check out Andrew's guitars, even if he doesn't have a lefty on hand; I've checked out most gee-tars upside down.
