Title: We Will Meet Again (for Bill and Bertie) - original
Post by: fitness1 on April 26, 2016, 04:51:24 PM
About two weeks ago, a good friend took his life at 61.   A year or so previous he'd lost his sister to ALS.
Bill and his wife had taken her in for her last year or two as she slowly became worse.
When Bertie passed, I started writing this, then shelved it when I had some issues going on of my own.
When I heard of Bill's passing, I pulled it back out and finished it.   I recorded it this afternoon and sent it to his widow.
Tuned in DADGAD - turn the volume slider up before listening...

Todd, that is beautiful.  Very nice tribute to your friend.  Was that one of the Charis or the Webber?

Thanks - that's the Charis Koa SJ - with reasonably dead strings - and I whacked my thumbnail off a while back (just growing back) so the bass strings aren't as present as they should be.

Killer sound, dead strings, broken nail and all...  I couldn't afford a Charis so I ordered a Northwood MJ80 venetian cutaway with an Engelmann Wintergrain top and Koa back/sides in January.  It is a shallow depth with OM depth at headblock and tailblock.  Hope to have it by July...  I have one of his MJ70 spruce/mahogany and it is killer...

i"ve enjoyed every one of John's guitars I've owned - I'm sure and MJ in Koa with a stiffer Engelmann is very, very nice....I've always wanted to try one of his Mahogany guitars, but never had the chance.

That was lovely Todd. It gave me an idea for a song. I kept waiting for lyrics, and when none came, I began to hear some in my head. Thanks for sharing your genius. That was 4/4 time right?

Oh, such a beautiful song, Todd.  I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and the pain in his life before he died.

Thanks so much - that was the hardest thing for me to get my head around - what he must have been going through.  Bill was always so full of life and incredible kindness for others.
