Title: Who wrote Cannonball Rag
Post by: Crunchy Wacko on January 10, 2008, 11:32:01 PM
Hey Everyone

I know Merle Travis made if famous...but did he write it?

I found a copy played by a David Miller from the 20's which although called Cannon Ball Rag  and sounds similar...am not sure of its really the same song. You can listen to it here.

I was thinking Johnny Smith, but MT might be a better guess.  Duane Eddy did a nice job playing it in the mid 70's.

Let me see if I can find it?

Google broken today? Written by Arnold Shultz as Flatlander pointed out, it's always been a Merle Travis song in my book.
