Title: Ebay help please...
Post by: roknroll on March 01, 2006, 03:36:06 PM
I just sold a guitar on ebay...question...what happens if the buyer backs out or doesn't pay? Do I still have to pay for the final selling fee?  The guitar sold for $855, so they took a fee of $26.  How would I get that credited back if the buyer backs out? Thanks!  -Andrew

Believe me, you'll end up with more than $26 worth of angst by the time you go through this process.

One thing to keep in mind is that EBAY is a highly automated, faceless organization. You must follow all of the rules by the book, no exceptions, if you expect to get a credit or other concession.

Keep positive, most deals go through OK.

The guy that bought ir just gave me a call.  He's a very nice gentlemen that is sending the MO out on friday.  I think phone communication is very important on ebay.

Well, the way I see it, the D-05 is still mine until I recieve the MO.  I should only be guitarless for about a week after I ship it out(which always seems like eternty).  I have my Dad's 73 martin sigma, but that thing is pretty crappy.  I'm gonna start a guitar fund, and use a little of the proceeds to pay bills.  I may save around$1000-1100 for my next guitar.  I can usually find AMAZING guitars in that price range.  Are you into antiques, Ron?  I have a bunch of old duck decoys and other stuff to put on ebay soon.  All of those proceeds will go towards my next guitar, so help out a good cause!

PS...I just bought some lizard spit(for cleaning/conditioning the fretboard and bridge), as well as some martin SP lights...Polished up the D-05 etc...I also lowered the saddle a bit and smoothed off the crown...This guitar looks and sounds amazing...this guy is going to drool when he opens up the case for the first time. Also, I'm gonna record a few songs with the D-05 before it goes, so you should check those out when I get them done.  -Andrew
