for scale/theory books? There are a million of them out there. I think I need to understand more than just memorizing scale patterns. I have the fretboard logic books, sometimes find them frustrating.

In general it never really make's sense.Get a good teacher or you might try a book called "guitar from scatch" I'v got a local teacher who reviewed them and he said it's a very good book.

My teacher is one of those people who plays them for you (very quickly), but can't seem to explain things. He gives me songs to play, but I want to be able to figure things out for myself. He is a very good guitar player, but not a great teacher. I think I might have to continue searching for someone--but there aren't many to choose from around here. :(

Deb you might want to check out some of the homespun tape's stuff.If you have a college around  hit up a music student.
