I'm just starting to get into playing blues--and wondering why I waited so long! Such fun!

Anyone know of some relatively simple stuff to work on (I'm not ready for Blackbird yet!!)

I play very little blues, but I do know that Folsom Prison Blues is classic 12 bar...in E.

I like where he says "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die."

What a grump!

Wyodeb:

Hello.  For some good learning tools on video and DVD, you may check out these two sights:

Homespun Tapes
www.homespuntapes.com
(Roy Book Binder comes very highly recomended here.)

and

Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop and Vestapol Videos
www.guitarvideos.com

Good Blues stuff at both sights

Wyodeb,

Try the following site,

http://littlebrother.nlpd.com/

and click on "free lessons" at the top of the page.

Little Brother is a member here and at Harmony Central Acoustic Forum.  He has great tips that you can download, good for those interested in country blues (acoustic).

Cheers!   B)

Cool site! Looks like someplace I'll have to visit often! Thanks

It might be awhile for that "jam" -- I'm still working on 12-bar changes, and pentatonic scales.

Gotta chime in here...

Rory Block's tapes are NOT for anyone beginning anything.  This stuff is pretty advanced...and Homespun usually rates her stuff with a "4", and a beginners tape would usually be a "2".  my .02

Agree with others.  Little Brother is a wonderful teacher.  He seems to be a great guy from what little exposure that I have had with him.  He has put in countless and thankless hours in for acoustic guitarists everywhere - his free lessons are great too.  I plan on buying his DVD, but I do wish that Candyman was on it, and Orsino, that tune is kinda' tough now.

And Unclrob, I love Rory Block, but I cannot fathom playing her tunes at this point.  Wow is she good.  And, she is fun to watch.
