Tell that to the lion food. ;)

If you mean lion food, as in, the Christians that were thrown to the lions during the Roman Coliseum days, then we have a problem...are you referring to Christians as lion food?

ok everybody.... and a 1...a 2....a 1, 2, 3, 4....

kumbaya, my lord....kumbaya.....

Wow, this thread has made me look at Dylan's lyrics a lot closer. Plus, I am doing some thinking.
My thought is that some of these comments just go to demonstrate why there should be a separation of church and state.
Ducktrapper, thanks for posting these lyrics. I appreciate that.
Drew, thanks for bringing this subject up. This is all awesome.
Sound of Acoustic--thanks for the public service announcement!
If we were all on any other guitar forum we would all be dead now!! They play rough on some of the other forums I've been to!
If I can change the subject slightly, I am starting a book called "Zen Guitar" and it talks about pleasing yourself first on the road to becoming a musician. Sounds like good advice for life in general, you know?
So, I read these lyrics and I think "wow" this is a chunk of Bob Dylan that he is laying out for the world to see.
Music is awesome.
Thanks to whoever it was that recommended the book "Between The Strings!" I plan on ordering that one.
Keep the knowledge flowing, Folks!

Drew - WE have a PROBLEM?

Here's a song by a Christian named Cockburn. A compatriot of mine.

Wondering Where the Lions Are.

Sun's up, uuh huh, looks okay
the world survives into another day
and i'm thinking about eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me.

I had another dream about lions at the door
they weren't half as frightening as they were before
but i'm thinking about eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me.

Walls windows trees, waves coming through
you be in me and i'll be in you
together in eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me

Up among the firs where it smells so sweet
or down in the valley where the river used to be
i got my mind on eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me
and i'm wondering where the lions are...
i'm wondering where the lions are...

Huge orange flying boat rises off a lake,
thousand-year-old petroglyphs doing a double take,
pointing a finger at eternity
i'm sitting in the middle of this ecstasy

Young men marching, helmets shining in the sun,
polished as precise like the brain behind the gun
(should be!) they got me thinking about eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me
and i'm wondering where the lions are...
i'm wondering where the lions are...

Freighters on the nod on the surface of the bay
One of these days we're going to sail away,
going to sail into eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me
and i'm wondering where the lions are...
i'm wondering where the lions are...

Bruce Cockburn is a great example of what i was speaking of earlier,,,and one of my favorites. Wondering Where the Lions Are is a great tune, oddly enough i have been listening to his later work more and more. i particularly like his more political work like the World of Wonders album and Stealing Fire. but Dancing in the Dragon's Jaw is a great album,,,so is In the Falling Dark.
Duck, you Canadians put out some great musicians and great guitars. i'm from Texas, so i can always claim Willie and Townes. :)

drew,
enough with the insults, it's not very becoming to say the least.
lighten up and enjoy this forum and what people have to offer here.

It always starts this way...

people have to keep their senses of humor, but above all, people have to self-edit a little before they hit send.

You have to keep your humor in the mainstream, even if we miss some of the glory of your real wittiness and originality. It often doesn't translate on-line and it's easy to be misinterpreted and cause things to spiral downward, particularly when we get to religion/ethnicity/politics/history etc.

To play here, you need to reflect before you send, it's that simple.

To the younger folks (whether chronologically or emotionally):

The forum isn't a mosh pit. For the most part people don't want to slam around carelessly in here. There's still a big space to poke fun and share widely divergent views - but not thoughtlessly and carelessly. There are plenty of places on the internet where you can find that type of energy if you want it, but this isn't it. People have invested a LOT of energy into making this forum successful. It doesn't take much to screw that up.

Stepping off my soapbox...   :)

Mr. Nolan. I shall now commence ignoring you. You're probably extremely lucky to be nowhere near this particular Canadian. Goodbye now.

As a different Bobby once said ...

Come back when you grow up, girl
You're still livin' in a paper-doll world
Livin' ain't easy, lovin's twice as tough
So come back, baby, when you grow up

You look real good like a woman now
Your mind hasn't gotten the message somehow
So if you can't take it 'n' the goin' gets rough
Come back, baby, when you grow up

I want you girl but your wide-eyed innocence
Has really messed up my mind, yeah-eah-eah
I'd rather you get your very first heartbreak
Somewhere else along the line

Come back when you grow up, girl
You're still livin' in a paper-doll world
Some day be a woman ready to love
Come back, baby, when you grow up

Come back when you grow up, girl
You've still got a lotta time left in the world
You'll some day be a woman ready to love
Come back, baby, when you grow up

under what conditions are folks welcomed to leave the forum?  I personally don't see why mr nolan's totally insensitive actions should be tolerated!

If drew truly grew
then perhaps passing through
is not the one wish
we'd all have for you

don't know where you've come from
but really don't care
your presence grows tiresome
wherever it is son,
we wish you were there

zach

thanks
